Meera's P.O.V. continues....

I ran straight into my room and closed the door. what is he doing here, so early in the morning...did i miss doing any work?

I was wondering trying to recollect the previous day's work. oh yeah...i need to go to those venues that i selected, see which one is suitable for the event...but then it's on Saturday i will be going and today is Friday, why is sir here...?

While I was still scratching my head to figure out the reason for Rahul Sir's presence, I heard a knock on my room's door.

i am sure Rahul sir is here and now he wants me to go with him somewhere to vent out his frustration...

With much hesitation I opened the door, 'Oh Aunty it's you, good morning!! When did you come back from walk?' I asked her pretending to be normal.

'Just now dear, I thought you were still sleeping and you need to get ready for office, isn't it?' Aunty said while my eyes were scanning the area behind her as far as I could see to check if my boss is here 'What are you searching for?' Aunty asked me, probably she noticed my wandering eyes.

'Is anyone home Aunty?' I asked.

'Yeah...you, me and Fatima! Who else would be here so early in the morning! Are you expecting anyone?'

'No Aunty...I just felt like I saw my boss down on the road when I was in the balcony just a little while ago'

'Is it? I have not seen the lad anywhere nearby!! I know the reason why you are hallucinating!' she said with a naughty smile playing across her lips confusing me, since I was pretty sure of seeing my boss.

how could that be...?

'You know when one is in love, all the thoughts would be constantly on that person making us hallucinate' Aunty was trying to tag me to my boss, the reason is absolutely untrue.

i think it's time for me to tell her about myself a little, may be then she'll stop tagging me with any man...

'Aunty I do not deserve to be loved or I cannot love anyone, it's in my fate or you can say it's my destiny'

'Why are you saying so dear?' Aunty asked me, while we both were seated at the dining table to have our breakfast.

'You know Aunty, I never saw my mother. I don't even know how she looked. I only know that she was killed the day I was born by my Uncle, my father's younger brother!' I said with my eyes getting filled up with tears fast.

'Oh my poor child!! I am very sorry to hear that darling!!' said Aunty, she then came to me and hugged me, rubbing my back.

'It's okay Aunty, you know the real reason why my mother was killed? It was because of me' I could not stop myself from crying wrapping my arms around Aunty's waist.

'I truly am sorry my dear!' she said and I continued, 'My Grand father wanted a boy and not a girl. My Nanny told me once that the day I was born, my mother was lying on her bed with me by her side when my Uncle visited asking my father to give me to him so that he could kill me' those words brought out too much of sorrow in me again.

'You are a strong and brave girl Meera, see you are alive now' Aunty tried to pacify me.

'My father did not allow to take me away and instead he picked me up and ran out to protect me. My Nanny told me that my mom's last wish was that I live when she was stabbed with a knife by my Uncle since she argued with him. My mother died in my Nanny's arms. It was then my Nanny too went in search of my father just like my Uncle and my grandfather, who were desperate to kill me. I was lucky I guess, my Nanny found us and they both took me far away from that village. My father had no other option since my mother was dead, he decided to protect me!!'

So many lives were sacrificed just to keep me alive! I owe my life to them all!

I was still hugging Aunty and she was caressing my back trying to pacify me. I wanted to  tell her the complete truth why my grandfather and my Uncle wanted me dead but before that Aunty started talking and I did not wish to interrupt her.

'You know something Meera? I got married to the one whom I did not love initially! It was just because my parents wanted me to marry him since he had a nine to five thirty job and earned well. I was actually in love with Vikram, you know him, he's none other than Rahul's father' Aunty said, surprising me.

'What? It's unbelievable Aunty' I said wiping my cheeks and nose with the tissues that were on the table. Aunty sat on the chair next to mine. I leaned on the table trying to listen to her.

'Since Vikram belongs to a business family, my parents thought that there would be too much of problem with these business people and I was forced to marry my late husband. I tried to cope up with him every day, he was a nice guy though' said Aunty with tears in her eyes too.

'I am sorry Aunty' I said holding her arm.

'The point here I wanted to say was that I wanted to have children very desperately, I got many tests done, everything proved futile. There's a social stigma in India that if the woman is not pregnant then the fault is only of the woman and not the man'

'Yes Aunty I know'

'This made it easy for my husband to keep his drawback hidden, even my in-laws too supported my husband in hiding it. It was eight years ago my husband was diagnosed with testicle cancer and in his last dying days he told me his big secret that he was incapable' said Aunty and was crying hiding her face behind her palm.

'It's okay Aunty, there are so many things that are not in out reach. Somethings can never be changed!' I tried to pacify her.

'Yes Meera you are so right, that was the reason, I shifted back to Delhi from France. It was there I and my husband used to live. Now I am more independent in my thoughts and of course my friends are very supportive too. Last but not the least, I truly believe that you are a beautiful gift ftom God, who fulfilled my wish to have a daughter just like you and also I believe  all those difficulties I endured were not wasted. I feel very connected to you than any other girl who stayed with me as PG!! I wanted to be a mother and I could not and your grandfather wanted to kill you! What an irony!!'

We were interrupted by Fatima with out breakfast.

We just began eating when the door bell rang. Fatima walked to the door.

'Who is it Fatima?' Aunty asked her from the dining table.

'Ma'am it's Rahul sir' she replied from the door.

oh god why is he here now?

I was in no mood to face my boss and that too dressed up like this. 'Aunty I'll go get ready' I said trying to skip away from there.

'No wait! At least say hello to him and then go' she said holding my arm 'Rahul come here son, join us for breakfast!' she invited him.
