Chapter 1: Shark Attack!-Part 3

While Marie and Amy were discussing the case, Chief Marquez approached them and gave Marie a torn photo that was sent to the station. After Marie put the photo together, she and Amy saw that it was a photo of their victim and in it, Ice P looked like he was about to kiss the lifeguard Zack Taylor. Marie saw the look on Amy's face and she said to her, "Now let's just calm down here, okay? Before we jump to hasty conclusions, we should go and talk to Zack about his relationship with our victim. And since this picture was also taken in the Tiki Shack, we should also have another look there."

Amy saluted to her ideas and the two of them set out to talk to Zack and check out the bar. The first thing they did was talk to Zack about his relationship with Ice P. Once they arrived at the beach, Zack instantly saw Marie, smiled at her and said, "Hey there Miss Marie and Miss Amy! What can I do for you now? It better be quick though cause it's my turn to cook hot dogs for the team. And we're all crazy about hot dogs."

Amy blushed red and she said to him, "Well, this is a little delicate situation but we found a rather intimate photo if you with Ice P." And Amy started to clear her throat while still blushing.

When Marie showed him the photo, Zack began to sweat nervously and he pleaded, "Please don't show this to anyone! Please! I would lose everything! Being a lifeguard on Sunny Beach isn't just about saving lives you know. You've got make people look up to you and give them a dream! If I'm not the perfect ladies man, they won't renew my contract for next summer. You see, Ice P and I had fallen in love and if he'd been able to divorce his wife, I would have had the money to leave my job and to come out of the closet. But now..."

Amy looked at the man sadly and started to say to him, "Mr. Taylor, we're so sorry that we..."

Zack shook his head sadly and said, "Look, will you just leave me alone. I've already lost the love of my life and I son's need anymore financial hardship this week!" And soon, Zack turned around sadly and left.

After their talk with Zack, Marie and Amy went to the Tiki Shack and looked on the bar's shelves for clues. Soon, Marie found a broken pink device that could contain some important information. Marie also found a surfboard that must've belonged to Maggie Ryder, the surfer they met earlier. And sure enough, it even had a her name it. Looking closer at the board, Marie noticed that it had a huge bite mark on it and she knew that it must've been chewed on.

Back at the station, the first thing Marie did was collect a DNA sample off of the surfboard and Amy began to wonder what they should do with it. Marie saw Amy thinking and she told her, "Back in Grimsborough, I would always match the DNA with other DNA that's in the database."

Amy smiled and agreed highly with Marie's idea and she thought, she's such a pro! Before Marie could look at the DNA sample, she decided to put the broken device back together first until it was whole again. Looking closer at the device, Marie saw that it was a kid's Polaroid camera. She then sent the camera over to Hannah so she can analyze the data. Before long, Marie scanned the DNA sample until it showed up on her computer and she started to compare it with other DNA until she found a match.

It was then that Amy and Marie knew that the DNA that Marie found on the surfboard came from a shark and it was from the same shark that killed their victim. Knowing that Maggie must've been in the water when the shark savaged Ice P, Amy and Marie headed out to talk to her. As soon as they confronted Maggie on the beach, Marie said to her, "Miss Ryder, we know you hated Ice P and now my friend and I have discovered that you came in contact with the shark that killed him!"

Amy nodded and added in, "Now, if you have been attacked by the shark, surely you would've mentioned it the first time we questioned you, but..."

Maggie stopped her right there and said, "Hold it right there! Surfers get attacked by sharks all the time cause it's an occupational hazard! Once the shark saw that idiot Ice P, it let go of my board and swam towards him. I'd like to say that I wanted to help him, but the just ain't true. So I paddled by board back to shore and went for a hot dog at the Tiki Shack. When I told that crazy shark guy about the attack, he left his own hit dog mid-bite  and ran to the beach!"
