Chapter 13: Eastern Promises-Part 2

While Frank and Marie were reviewing the case, Hannah came by and told Marie that sh3 found Radovan Radich's last will and testament and she told her that he changed it just before his daughter's wedding. Hannah proceeded to tell them, "Initially, Radovan was going to leave his pipe shop to Manka, but now he's taken his business out of his will. Which means that Manka won't inherit her father's shop!"

After hearing that, Marie said, "If Manka was aware of this change, then she must have been very angry with her father! I think we should question her!"

Frank agreed with her idea and before they could leave, Chief Marquez called out to Marie and she saw her approaching. As soon as the chief was in front of her, she said, "I'm glad I found you here Marie! I've just been informed that several of the wedding guests were at the Body and Beauty Spa right before the wedding and I want you to go there!"

She then looked at Frank with a smirk and said, "But Frank, you should leave your swim trunks at home cause you'r just going to the spa to investigate!"

Before they could check out the spa, Marie and Frank went to talk to Manka about her father's new will. At the reception, Marie and Frank were standing in front of Manka and Marie told the woman that her father changed his will and Manka looked at them with surprise. She then exclaimed, "What?! Papa changed his will?! I haven't even forgiven him for dying and now he goes and disinherits me?! What kind of father does this to his only child Miss Marie?!"

Frank then exclaimed in an accusing tone, "So you were angry at your father for changing his will and that's why you decided to kill him!"

Manka then furrowed her eyes at Frank and exclaimed to him angrily, "You're accusing me of killing papa?! Well you know what I think Officer Knight, I think it's your bad conscience talking! I bet you have children too and I bet you're a constant disappointment to them too! I loved papa, no matter how much he annoyed me! Now you go away and think about what you've just said!"

Marie looked at Frank and saw that he had a hurtful look on his face and he turned around and walked away sadly. Not wanting to hear anymore, Marie trailed after him quickly. Back at the office, Frank slammed his fist on his desk in anger. Marie jumped when he did that and she asked, "Are you okay Frank?"

Frank looked at Marie with the same hurtful look and exclaimed, "I still can't believe what that crazy woman said to me Marie! I'm a "constant disappointment" to my children?! That's exactly what my ex-wide says. But then again, she diesn't even let me see our kids!"

Marie got interested and said, "I heard you were married, but you never told me you had kids. What are they like?"

Frank let out a sad sigh and said, "I know I never told you about them darlin', but I don't like to talk about it. It's all because I've had my own failures with my children."

Just then, Russel came by and heard Frank let out a sad sigh and he approached the two curiously wondering what was going on. When Russel was close enough and Marie greeted him, he asked, "Marie, what happened to Frank? He sounds more clinically grumpy than usual. I think you should drag him out into the sunlight cause I think he needs to synthesize some serotonin."

Frank whipped around angrily and exclaimed, "Drop dead Russel!"

Russel just shrugged and continued on his way. After Russel left, Marie looked at Frank and said, "I think Russel has a point Frank. We should go out for some fresh air. Besides, we have to go back to the bazaar anyway to search for more clues. And it's a good chance to look around Pipe Dreams again cause there's always plenty of mystery surrounding the victim's shop."

Frank nodded in agreement and told Marie that he too will come along. Before they could look around the victim's shop, Marie and Frank went to the hammam spa to search it. Once they arrived, Marie and Frank searched around until Marie found an open chest full of massage accessories. Frank also saw them and thought that they seem pretty harmless and he looked at Marie with a flirty look. Marie knew what he was thinking and said, "Before you say anything, I'm only looking through this chest for clues! Nothing else!"
