Chapter 11: Heartless-Part 2

While Amy and Marie were recapping what they know so far about the case, Chief Marquez approaches them and told Marie that a Russian bar called the Moloko has just been wrecked and they are on the brink of a street war. Marie's eyes went wide when she heard that and she asked in shock, "A Russian bar?! Seriously?! What if this vandalism is linked to Ling Zhang's murder?!"

Amy couldn't help but agree and she added in, "It doesn't help that Ivana Golovanov is really adding to the drama with her anti-Chinese agenda. All of this doesn't seem to bode well!"

"Well what's most important is we need to go to the bar that's just been vandalized and investigate it," Marie said and Amy nodded in agreement with her plan and soon the two female officers headed out to check the bar.

As soon as they arrived, Amy and Marie started to look around until Marie spotted a wrecked baseball bat that was probably used to trash the bar. Looking closely at it, Amy and Marie saw that it had Chinese ornaments on it which meant that it may be the Chinese who wrecked the bar as a retribution for Ling's murder. Marie asked Amy to bring her her powder kit knowing that whoever left the bat, must have left behind their fingerprints too. Marie also found some Russian nesting dolls and Amy smiled when she saw how cute the were.

Amy started to open one and she said while doing it, "I just love these dolls cause it's a new treat every time you open one! And the smaller they get, the cuter they are!"

Marie then told her that there must be something hidden inside the dolls and they should check it out. The first thing Marie did was check out the baseball bat and after she brushed her powder over the handle and the fingerprints became visible, Amy sent the bat over to Hannah to be processed. The next thing Marie looked at was the Russian nesting dolls and after she looked through them, she found an herbal bag amongst them. When Marie looked at Amy she saw that her partner's arms were full of Russian nesting dolls. Marie smirked and said, "Amy, you know those dolls are evidence, right?"

"Please Marie! These dolls are just so cute! Can't I keep them?" Amy begged like a toddler wanting a puppy.

Marie shook her head and told her that she couldn't and she showed Amy the herbal bag from Yuan's Garden that she found. Amy know instantly that the bag was from a Yuan Wong's shop and she wondered what it was doing in the Russian dolls. Marie suggested that they should warrant another talk with Yuan Wong and Amy nodded in agreement. As soon as they got back to the herbal shop and were in front of Yuan Wong, Marie showed her the herbal bag and she asked, "Mrs. Wong, we found this herbal blend hidden in a Russian nesting doll in the Moloko bar. Do you have any idea on how it ended up there?"

Yuan Wong looked closely at the bag and her eyes went wide when she saw the shop's name and she exclaimed, "So she disobeyed me! Ling went to the Moloko bar to give it to that boy! His name is Piotr Golovanov and he's a bartender at that hideous place! I had forbidden her from going!"

When they heard the last name Golovanov, Amy and Marie thought it sounded familiar. Amy then asked, "Is he somehow related to Ivana Golovanov?"

Yuan Wong nodded and said, "Ivana and Piotr are siblings and the Moloko bar is where Ivana gives her anti-Chinese speeches. We Chinese call then, "The Twin Snakes." Piotr had the nerve to come here to ask for a cure for his hepatitis. I told him to scram and then I told Ling never to speak to him! But she must have gone anyway! How dare she not listen to me?! I gave her everything; a roof, food, I taught her meditation and acupuncture! And this is how she thanked me?!"

After they exited the herbal shop, Marie looked at it and said, "Seems our suspects are clearly getting on the edge."

Amy's eyes went wide when she heard that and she said, "That's the least you could say! To me, dealing with them gets touchier by the minute! But at least we've now learned that Ling went to the Moloko bar to help this Piotr Golovanov with his liver problems despite Yuan's warnings."
