Chapter 15: Murder-Go-Round-Part 3

While Amy and Marie were reviewing what they knew so far in the case, Chief Marquez approached them and ordered them to go to the playground because Nikolai Kamarov took Sue Xiong, leader of the Chinese community, hostage. Once they hear the news, Amy and Marie rusted over to the playground to save Sue and stop Nikolai from committing murder and starting a street war between the Russian and the Chinese. At the playground, terrified onlookers and police officers with their guns drawn watched as Nikolai pressed a gun against Sue's head and he shouted angrily, "No one come any closer or I'll kill her!"

Marie, who also had her gun drawn along with Amy, stared at Nikolai sternly and she exclaimed, "Let her go Nikolai! You have no proof that Sue Xiong is responsible for your wife's death and your son's abduction!"

It was then that Sue shouted, "It's no use! He's lost his head! Shoot him before he shoots me!"

Marie furrowed her eyes not wanting to hurt either Nikolai or Sue he she said in a deathly tone, "I will not tell you again Nikolai! Drop the gun and let Ms. Xiong go!"

Marie was itching to pull the trigger on her own gun and it was then that Nikolai let out a sigh, released Sue from his grip and he raised his hands in surrender. He then looked at Marie with a glare and said, "But I warned you Miss Marie! I said that I would take matters into my own hands!"

Sue also glared at the man and she exclaimed, "And so you went and attacked me?! How dud you even dare?!"

Nikolai glared right back at Sue and exclaimed in an angry fury, "Don't play dumb with me Sue! I'm sure you had something to do with all of this!"

Amy then went around and cuffed Nikolai and she told him, "You're under arrest Mr. Kamarov! Hopefully some time in a detention cell will help cool you off!"

Once Nikolai was placed in the back of a squad car and taken to the station, Amy let out a sigh of relief as the crowd was dispersing and she said, "I'm glad that crisis is averted, but what should we do now Marie?"

Marie looked at Amy and she said to her, "Well first off, we need to talk to Sue and get her side of the story. And I think we should have another look at the playground since it is the place where Andrew got abducted." And Amy nodded agreeing with Marie's plan.

Before they could talk to Sue, Marie and Amy looked around the playground for clues. After a few minutes of searching, Marie found a leather wallet with Tammy Baker's name in it and she thought that she should search through it. She also found a business card from a law firm and at the bottom was a handwritten note to Nikolai Kamarov. When Amy and Marie read the note, it said, 'Nikolai, call me about case...' However, the number was rubbed off which made it illegible and Marie knew she had to decipher it.

The first thing Marie did was search through Tammy's wallet until she found and vaccination card for Andrew and Amy wondered why it was in Tammy's wallet. The card lists several vaccines, but the status column is completely faded and Marie knew she had to recover it. Before she could do that, Marie got to work deciphering the number on the business card until she found out what it was. Once she did that, Marie sent it to Hannah to be analyzed and to figure out what Nikolai needed a law firm for.

After that was done, Marie got to work brushing her powder over the status column on the vaccine card until it was recovered. However, Amy and Marie saw that little Andrew wasn't even vaccinated for any of the diseases listed much to Amy's shock and she thought about how dangerous it was. Wondering why Andrew's nanny carried the card around if she didn't get him vaccinated, Marie suggested that they should have another chat with her.

As soon as they were in front of Tammy Baker, Marie asked her about Andrew's lack of vaccinations and that she found his vaccine card in her wallet. Tammy's eyes went wide with surprise and she said, "You think I'm the reason Andrew didn't get his vaccines?! That's rich! Odette was so negligent cause she could never remember when Andrew needed new vaccines, but she refused to let me handle it!"
