I woke up extremely uncomfortable, my skin hot and sweaty and the beginning of a hangover creeping in. I had the worst headache and felt extremely nauseous. The sun was beaming on me from the window nearby and I wasn't about to open my eyes. I felt horrible and if I could just sleep the day away that would be my ideal. As I begin to drift back to sleep, my phone began to ring and as much as I wanted to move and answer it, I had no motivation to do so. The call could wait until I was mentally stable and awake enough to handle it.
" Hello", I heard Harry say, he must have been sitting on the couch close by and decided he should answer the call instead of just letting it ring. It made me wonder who it was, it had to be someone he was comfortable talking to for him to answer it.
"It's Harry", his tone was neutral.
"Yeah, Daisy is with me. I took her home last night, no need to worry. She's safe.
The room was silent for a while. I could hear the other persons voice just a little bit but not enough to make it out, especially with how drowsy I was there was no chance of me guessing who was calling.
"Don't worry about it, her and I have a lot of trust in each other you don't have to worry", he seemed a little defensive at this point, "It's not like that."
I wanted to interrupt at this point and just talk to whoever was on the phone. They seemed like someone who worried about me a lot and I'm sure they have the best of intentions. I just wanted to see how the conversation would play out with Harry, he seemed to be handling himself but what would he say about me or to someone I love if he thought I wasn't going to hear it. I assumed it wasn't Niall because the conversation would go a lot different if it was
"Look, she is asleep right now and I really think she needs the sleep. You and I both know she has gone through a lot and deserves all the solid sleep she can get, on top of that she was really drunk last night and I think she is going to feel that once she wakes up. I'll have her call you when she wakes up, okay?"
"I assure you she is safe, she is fine, everything is okay", he assured the person again. His voice was stern and confident but not angry. He really knew exactly what he was talking about. The phone call must have ended because I heard him place my phone down on the table next to me, he placed his hand on one of my legs and began to rub it in a soothing motion. I had no idea why he was doing it but the fact that he was, was really endearing.
Ideally, I wanted to open my eyes and smile at him, kiss him even. In my dream world, I could open my eyes and just move to lay in his arms. I wouldn't be sleeping on his couch, I would be in our shared bed just cuddling the day away with him. With each thing he did for me, my love for him grew and that could be a bad thing. I could see the change him and how different he was now that he was older. Harry had gotten more wise and mature since we had first met, I could see how much more he respected me as a person than before. I just knew he had changed and I wanted to be apart of everything he was.
"Good morning", I said rolling around making his hand fall of me, I had got so caught up in my thought that I couldn't just lay here anymore when I could be talking to him.
"You are up early", he commented, "Did the phone wake you?"
"Who was it?"
"A friend of yours named Sienna and Rose on speaker phone. Both of them yelling at me. It was great", he said sarcastically, "They were like, "You better have Daisy with you and you better not being taking advantage of her and playing mental games", and Rose specifically said, "Didn't you have an alcohol problem? You are a compulsive cheater and manipulator. You objectified a teenage girl and you have to live with that."
"She really fucking said that", I said sitting up and grabbing my phone, all Harry did was nod.
I agreed, Harry was manipulative to me when we were together. He did use me for my body and he objectified my childhood youth and my virginity. It wasn't the right thing to do on his part but for Rose to call him out like that was uncalled for and none of her business.
"I mean, Sienna was nice and Rose had a right to say all those things so it's fine, it's whatever, Petal", he was avoiding looking me in the eyes and all I could be was shake my head in disapproval. For Rose to be worried about me and trying to protect me was one thing and I appreciated them calling to check on me but it was all stuff she had no right to say. I wanted to call Rose back and give her a piece of my mind, tell her how wrong it was for her to attack Harry on things that didn't directly involve her but I decided against it. It would bother her more if I just gave her the silent treatment.
"She had no right to say those things to you, Harry. I am so sorry."
"Don't apologize. It's whatever", I could tell it hurt him and that he was offended by it, there was obviously something he was feeling and I wanted to talk it out of him but in reality it wasn't worth it. I didn't want to push him, he knew that I was in support of him and that is all that really mattered at this moment.
"How are you feeling?", he began to change the topic, "Do you want any medicine or breakfast. I could cook you up some hangover food if you'd like.
"I'd love that."
