Life works in funny ways, in ways that sometimes people don't expect. When two things seem too different to work together, it's obvious to assume they won't last, that they weren't meant to be together. But life is more complicated than that.
Sometimes even if two things are considerably different from one another, there is still a possibility that they may work and perhaps they were even made to be together, we can never be sure.
So maybe Jeongguk was just the slightly bit embarrassed for how he had cried after talking with Taehyung, but this thought died soon enough because the older had cried just as much.
They ended up just hugging each other and crying for a while and when they separated they just laughed and hugged each other again.
To put it simple, they were a mess. Jeongguk already knew he was a mess but it was nice to know that Taehyung was just as much of a mess.
He couldn't even explain why he was feeling so affected, maybe it was too much and perhaps unnecessary and borderline ridiculous but he couldn't help himself.
After they calmed down, from whatever that was, Taehyung just snuggled under his covers and pulled Jeongguk along, holding the younger close, with his face pressed against Jeongguk's hair.
The younger failed to find words to describe what he was feeling right at that moment. His heart seemed full, his body calm and at ease, he was warm, safe and just happy.
He placed his face on Taehyung's neck and just breathed his boyfriend sweet perfume in. He wanted nothing else now, nothing else ever.
Taehyung moved his face out of Jeongguk's hair and began to play with the younger's locks instead and in that moment Jeongguk decided to ask something.
"Why did you text me that?"
"Asking you to come over?" The older asked back.
"Yeah." Jeongguk nodded against his boyfriend.
Taehyung took just a second too long to reply, not ceasing to play with Jeongguk's hair while he spoke. "I was waiting for you to say something, because I felt guilty for making you uncomfortable, but you didn't send me anything since you told me you got home safe that night. I just wanted to see you. I couldn't bear to wait any longer, all the overthinking about what had happened was eating me alive so I just had to try..."
Jeongguk could barely believe he heard that right. "Jimin was the one that replied to you, but he wasn't lying, I really did miss you too."
The older hugged him just a little tighter in his arms, making Jeongguk beam and hide his face further into Taehyung's neck. "I know it was like just three days but I missed you so much, it felt so much longer than that baby."
"You're cheesy." Jeongguk replied, knowing far well how his cheeks were warm now, just like his heart.
Taehyung laughed. "I can't deny that."
Taking the opportunity that they weren't facing each other, otherwise he would be too embarrassed to ask it, Jeongguk decided to ask about some things that rose inside his mind after Taehyung told him 'I had already that already, don't need it again'.
"Tae, can I ask you something?"
"Go for it."
He took a breath before saying. "When did you have your first kiss?"
He could tell, even if he couldn't see, that his boyfriend was frowning a little at that. It's how he gets when he tries to remember things.
It was stupid how Jeongguk smiled to himself after thinking that, because he knew the older so well now and for some reason that made him content.
