Lloyd

Few Weeks Later

So things have been going good lately. Jas finally giving me another chance, I got a job at a garage and then there's Alisha. I can't just leave her hanging like that, especially her son. Little man is just so active, he reminds me of Anthony when he was that age.

"You hungry?" Alisha asked me.

"Somewhat." I said as I was chilling watching the game on TV.

"What you in the mood for?"

"Whatever you cook I am okay with." I said as I watched her get up. "Where is Mateo (Muh-tay-o)?"

"He's in there taking a nap. I should go wake him up before he be up all night." She said.

"I got it." I stood up.

"You sure?"

"Yeah, I'ma go get my little homie." I said walking towards his room. As I woke up Mateo, which is his nickname, my phone started to ring.

"Wassup?" I answered.

"Babe, are you busy?" Jas asked me.

"A little, what you need?"

"I just wanna talk to you." She said.

"I'll be there when I'm done handling this business."

"Okay." She sighed before disconnecting the line.

"You like Lloyd baby?" I heard Alisha ask Mateo.

"Yeah, he fun." I heard Mateo say.

"What y'all talking bout?" I walked in.

"About you." Alisha said smiling at me.

"I wanna go to park!" Mateo screamed.

"The park doesn't sound like a bad idea, does it?" Alisha asked me.

"Nah, I'm sure he'll be cool." I said.

"Wear himself out." She said.

"He's a kid." I chuckled.

"Full of energy and makes lots of messes." She said.

"Leave my little homie alone." I said as I sat there watching him play with his toys.

"I ain't even messing with him." She said as she went and turned on cartoons for him.

"So what happened with his dad? He take care of him?"

"His dad doesn't even know he exists."

"You haven't told him?"

"Hassan ain't want anything to do with kids. When I found out I was pregnant with Mateo, me and him were no longer together. I never told him and I don't want to." She said.

"You don't have to."

"He's no good anyways. Mateo needs a man in his life that will teach him things, not a guy that still acted like he was 8."

"Have you found him yet?" I asked as she put the knife down.

"I'm hoping." She said looking up at me. "Babe, you need to take down your braids." She then said.

"I'll do it later."

"I'll do it when I'm finished cooking if you want."

"Nah, I gotta go do some errands."

"Likeeeeeee?" She asked me making me laugh.

"Don't worry about it nosey." I said.

"When do I get to meet your son?" She asked me out of nowhere.
