"Alam mo ba.?" its Amy.
And Maymay knew what she's going to say. As usual, they are lying side by side on condo bed. The lights off. They were about to sleep.
"Ang tamlay daw lagi ni si Edward." Amy's voice softens. And Maymay heart melt. But she didn't say anything.
"Di ko naman siya laging nakikita. Sa laki naman kasi ng building no. But i hear people talk. Kesyo na heart broken daw. Stays at his office until midnight. Lam mo naman, talk of the town lagi un sa min. Abangers ang mga girl employees sa ganap ng buhay."
Maymay remained silent. She wondered if her name ever reached their ears.
"Nakapag-usap na ba kayo? "
When was the last time they last talk? That night when Edward left with Luke.
"Hindi pa."
"Girl! Grabe ka. Ni ha? Ni ho? Wala? Ano un, as in pak ganern! Gone with the wind? Hoy utang na loob babaita. Kausapin mo yung tao."
"Baka ok na siya. Mejo matagal na rin naman. Baka magulo lang ulit." Maymay pulls the blanket over head.
"Hays, ewan ko sayo Marydale! Nalulungkot ung tao. Alam mo, gets naman kita. If i were in your shoes, kasi alam ko naman kung gaano kalayo ng estado niyo sa buhay, baka ganyan din ang gawin ko, lumayo na lang. Pero, May, sasabihin ko sayo ung sinabi ni Piolo, Edward deserves an explanation! He needs an acceptable reason! Baka nababaliw na yung tao kakaisip kung anong nagawa niya!"
"Masasabi ko lang May, sobrang bait niyang tao. Di nya deserve ang ginawa mo."
Its been weeks.
And she knew Edward gave up looking for her. Gone are the days when, going out of the studio, she would stop by the bottom of the stairs to check if Edward's there. Gone are the days she would jerk when someone called out 'tao po!' on their house's front door. Edward has stopped. It was a relief and a heartache at the same time. In the deepest corner of her heart, she'd been dying to see him.
And so, she's asking herself, does she really have to talk to Edward? It wouldn't change a thing for all she know. And besides, she's afraid. She's afraid to face him. She's afraid she would take back all she had promised to herself if she sees him. If she looks into his eyes.
But if she were in his shoes, would she demand an explanation too?
She thought about it over and over again. And at last, after days of sleepless nights, she decided to give Edward a call. Whatever happens, however Edward react to her reason, he deserves to know.
It was Friday. She's still at the studio, though she already turned her computer off. She, currently, is staring at her phone. She spent days readying herself, and now that she thought she is ready,.. she coudln't bring herself to press the call button.
What would she say?
It was 8pm.
Her heartbeat's racing, she pressed the call button and put the phone in her ear.
The phone was ringing. It kept ringing. For Maymay, it felt like ringing for eternity. Long. She waited patiently.
"Hello?"
Maymay gasped. She felt her heart skipped a beat. The voice over the line, it stirs a thousand emotions. It was so soft she barely heard it.
"Hello, who's this?"
"E-Edward?"
Pause.
"Maymay?"
