Edward is currently sitting at the backseat of the car. His ties loosened, his posture relaxed.
"Back to the office. "
Tonyo, the driver started the car, and soon their on the road. He's not used to having a personal driver. But he needed one, at least just for this week, so he hired him, the son of their long time family driver to do the driving for him. His father has been insisting him to have one, but he doesn't feel like it.
Maybe, if he will become the CEO, he'd get Tonyo.
Maybe.
Edward gazes out of the window, refreshing his eyes with the blur of the street. The time is past 5pm, and he had just finished the last appointment for the day.
He had not enough sleep last night. He arrived at his condo at past 12midnight, he worked until 2am, and got up at 6. But nevertheless, he felt energetic.
A smile slowly dawns on his face.
He touched the curve of his lips, and he's currently lost in a daydream. That smile lightens his handsome face. Pictures of memories from last night fondly lingers on his mind.
He could still see her burying her face in the hollow of his neck, while they're locked in a sweet embrace. How he wished that moment wouldn't end. Maymay in his arms, under the night sky.
He didn't know what effect his presence did to Maymay. But I will tell you dear readers. For Maymay, it was like literally and figuratively having a shoulder to lean on. When she looked straight into his eyes, before that magical kiss, she sensed that subtle change in Edward's eyes. She felt reassured. Even without words. She felt safe. And so that intimate embrace was more than just missing him. It was like, trusting him. She still feels a little afraid. But then she thought, maybe it's worth the fight this time.
For Edward, it's as simple as this: Maymay welcomes him back to her life, and he couldn't be any happier.
"Sir Edward?"
Edward started at the sound of the Tonyo's voice, the latter's face he could see from the rearview mirror. Tonyo caught him smiling alone.
"Mukhang masaya si Ser, ah. Tagumpay, ba, ser?" Tonyo teasingly raised his brows.
Edward blushed deeply. Is it written all over his face?
"Tagumpay Ser ang meeting?"
Aaaahhh.
He tried to hide his smile. But he failed.
"Yes. I got two yes'es."
The moment he laid his eye on that business proposal, he knew, it wouldn't be so hard to attract investors. And he wasn't mistaken. He feels like this week is going to be good to him. Even Marco's plan to have him and Maymay talk, wasn't a lame idea after all.
"Wow, see you Ser on the neks round!" Tonyo exclaimed, mimicking the judge of a talent show.
Edward had a good laugh. Next round, indeed! And he has to prepare for that right away.
When he arrives at his office, he buried himself to paper works again, just like yesterday. In fact, he worked until midnight. The morning after, he came back as early as 6:am, and the reception guard, still not even relieved by the next guard on duty, looks at him in awe, scratching his head. He went out for another round of appointments for the whole day.
Such is his daily routine. Until friday. And so it isn't surprising that you'd see stress on his face. He feels tired, and burned out. But he's the ever calm and mild temperate Edward that people around him, especially those who works side by side with him learn to love him even more.
