Albert's POV:

I groaned loudly.

I roughly twisted to the left side of my bed and sighed heavily. I didn't really wanna get up from my bed. I felt like my energy was drained from my body and mind.

Reluctantly, I painfully tore myself apart from my bed and hastily stood up. I brushed my hands through my hair to try to tone it down a bit. My eyes dart towards the left when Jake quietly walks in my room. "Ah, you're finally up" he says with a small tone of concern. "Yeah, what time is it?"

"Albert, it's 3:57 pm, basically 4" he whispered, sighing through his nostrils. "Is everything okay??"

I looked down nervously, "Yeah, everything is cool." I bit my tongue as I scanned Jake's reaction. "What is it with you wearing long sleeves and pants now all the time? It's spring, you always loved the spring breeze on you"

"I Uh, I'm just a bit cold today" I lied. I painfully forced myself to look at him in the eye while awkwardly clutching my hands. I sighed deeply, "I'm fine, okay? Don't worry about me, I'm good" I said while plastering a big fake smile on my face.

He smiled weakly and took a few steps back. "Okay. Also, I was wondering if you'd wanna come and take a walk with me outside?" He said. I nodded my head in approval. "Great, I'll be outside in 10" he whispered before walking out the room.

I bit my tongue while walking to the bathroom and talking off my shirt. I looked down on my veiny wrists to see them covered in a sea of red swollen cuts of all shapes and sizes. I took off my pants and there was roughly an equal amount of cuts on my thighs as well.

You're just like your father!

".. stop."

You don't do anything right.

".. s-stop!"

You fucking disgrace.

"stop!" I whispered loudly as warm tears fell slowly and painfully down my red swollen face. I roughly turned the mirror around so I wouldn't see my awful face. I turned on the sink and splashed cool water on my face, desperately trying to get my face to look normal.

I threw on a red t-shirt and a light jacket over it and some black sweatpants. I quickly grabbed my phone before walking quickly out of the house and meeting Jake outside.

"It's very nice outside" Jake whispered with a warm smile on his face. He turned his direction towards me and his smile grew smaller. "Cmon, take off your jacket and feel the breeze!"

"N-no thanks, Jake."

"Why?" He whispered, growing slightly irritated. "You haven't done this in a while! Heck, now that I think about it, I haven't seen your arms in months!"

"I don't want to take off my jacket" I whispered, a big lump forming in my throat. I felt like I was gonna crack, like a bottle of wine hitting the concrete ground. "Please! What's wrong with you?!" He asked desperately. "I just want both us to take a romantic walk and enjoy the light breeze!"

I started sobbing.

Jake looked rather surprised and got closer to me. "H-hey? What's wrong?" He stuttered while holding my hands. I choked on my own breath and roughly took off my jacket, letting the cold air slap my jagged skin. I cried even louder.

"H-happy?" I whispered with a face full of misery and pain. "I'm so sorry". I looked up to see a face screaming of surprise and agony. He grabbed me and pulled me into a heartwarming embrace. He clutched onto my shirt and exploded into heartbreaking tears. "A-Albert, you don't know how much y-you mean to me" he stuttered while trying to calm down. "Y'know, I've completely fallen for you." He starts. "Fallen for everything you do, everything you say, and everything you are. You're almost every thought in between, first thought in the morning and before I go to sleep." He whispered while kissing my tears away.

I felt warm butterflies rush into my stomach and my face turning a bright shade of pink. I laugh quietly while playfully kissing his bright red nose.

I laced my fingers with his and placed my head on his shoulder. "Thank you" I whispered, "thank you for easing the pain for me."
