Chapter 6 - Ghoul

Kaneki's POV:

The doves had me leave the room while they questioned (Y/N). She's not a ghoul, so I'm not worried that they'll do anything to her, but I don't like their presence and of course, of all the doves, they sent those two. They're too strong for me right now when I haven't eaten for so long. I was just about to eat (Y/N)... If I hadn't heard them coming, I wouldn't have let her go and I would off eaten her right there and then. I'm thankful to them on that point, but besides that I despise them.

(Y/N) is right though, I left her behind that night. But I just couldn't bring myself to contact her after she heard that I was dead. I was so busy at Aogiri that I didn't have the time either, Ayato was constantly watching me and I never had a moment alone. He would have followed me to her without a doubt and if he saw her, smelled her scent... He probably wouldn't hesitate to kill her instantly. I won't let that happen. Ever. I'll also have to leave soon, I can't let her get too attached to me again the way she was before I disappeared. Then I'll just end up hurting her again if I die for real. But she'll hurt you just as much if she dies... I widen my eyes slightly as the thought crept into my mind. I need to protect her but at the same time keep my distance, no one can know that we're friends, every ghoul in and around the 20th Ward would set after her if they heard, that 'The Eyepatch' was friends with a human. Then she would also be killed for sure. I tried to figure out what to do when I suddenly heard footsteps coming from behind the door to (Y/N)'s room.

"Okay, thank you Miss (L/N), get better soon okay?" I heard investigator Mado say as she opened the door and entered the hallway. She looked at me shortly and then extended her hand to me. "Goodbye, sir." She said as we shook hands, "Miss (L/N) is waiting for you inside." With that, she and Amon left without another word. I went into (Y/N)'s room again, she was sitting on the bed looking out the window with a rather disturbed expression on her face. What's wrong with her? I thought they didn't do anything... Did they!?

"(Y/N)? What's wrong?" I asked as I sat down on the chair beside her, she jumped a little in surprise but then quickly adjusted herself back to her normal self.

"It's nothing." She said and sent me a little smile and looked back out of the window. "You... Never gave me an answer before." She said, still looking out of the window. Fuck, how am I going to explain it to her, without revealing to her that I'm a ghoul!? I gulped and looked away from her even though she wasn't looking at me.

"Well... O-On the night that I disappeared--" I slowly began to explain a little but got interrupted by the door swinging open. Both (Y/N) and I jumped in surprise, well that was rather sudden! I thought and looked at the doctor and the nurse who came into the room.

"(Y/N) (L/N), we believe that you're ready to go home. There has been called a taxi to come get you and your friend." The doctor said with a broad smile on his lips. "Remember to take it easy and not to move about so much for the next week or two." He softened his expression and the nurse handed (Y/N) some documents that told her what she was allowed to do. I bowed to the doctor and the nurse.

"Thank you for everything, we appreciate it." I said and stood up again. I looked at (Y/N) and smiled a little smile, she thanked them as well as they handed her some clothing that wasn't a patient uniform. They took their leave and (Y/N) went to the bathroom to get changed. When she came back out she was wearing a loose black shirt and a pair of light blue jeans. "Looks good on you" I admitted. Then I realized that I technically just called her beautiful and a little blush spread across my cheeks. (Y/N) blushed a little as well and looked away from me trying to hide it. I chuckled a bit to myself, gosh she's cute when she's blushing... I blushed more at the thought and quickly went to open the door for her. She went past me without a word, still blushing. I followed beside her till we got outside and the taxi was already waiting for her. She stopped and looked at it, I guess this is where we part... I felt my heart ache a bit, I didn't want to leave her, to be without her again... For some reason.
