Chapter 22 - Twins

(Y/N) POV:

"Okay then, let's begin!" Doctor Miku said with a smile as she then placed the scanner on my stomach and a black and white picture appeared on the screen. I tighten my grip on Kaneki's hand a bit as we both looked intensely at the screen and Doctor Miku pointed on it with a smile.

"Okay, if you look here you can see a little head and then the body goes down here..." She said and traced her finger along the screen as the picture became clear to me. 

"Can... You see which gender it is?" Kaneki asked beside me with a proud smile as he also looked intensely at the screen. Doctor Miku smiled at us as she moved the scanner around a bit.

"This is a girl..." She said as Kaneki smiled even brighter and looked down at me. I smiled back at him as Doctor Miku continued, "And if you look here, there's a twin and he's a boy.". Kaneki and I quickly looked back at the screen with widened eyes.

"Twins!?" We exclaimed at the same time as my mouth dropped to the floor.

"Yep! They both look healthy and happy, how long have you been pregnant (Y/N)? We've gotta make an appointment for you when it's time." Doctor Miku said with a smile and waited for me to answer.

"Um, well... We just found out this morning, so we don't really know..." I said and scratched my cheek nervously and smiled wryly. 

"Hmm... Well, if we judge on their size and health..." Doctor Miku looked and the screen as she moved the scanner around again, "then I would say that you're 6 months in and that means we will make an appointment for you in three months, sounds good?" Doctor Miku looked at us and smiled as she removed the scanner from my stomach. Kaneki and I just nodded as we then looked at each other and smiled.

"Oh, pardon me, I'll just turn around for a bit..." Doctor Miku teased as she turned around and began to type something on her computer. Kaneki and I just looked at her as a blush began to form on both of our cheeks. I then looked back at Kaneki as he moved his face closer to mine until our lips met and we shared a kiss of happiness. 

"Okay! Here are some pictures and now you'll just relax until we meet again, no funny business, okay?" Doctor Miku said as she turned around and handed us the pictures and a little note with her guess on the date they're going to be born. I took it from her as Kaneki and I looked at the pictures for a moment. I then stood up from the bed and took my jacket as Kaneki held the pictures and kept looking at them with a small smile.

"Thank you so much Doctor Miku! See you in 3 months. You coming Kaneki?" I said to Doctor Miku as I turned and looked at Kaneki behind me. He just nodded his hand and shook Doctor Miku's hand as he walked up to me and took hold of mine and we walked out of the hospital. 

"Twins huh?" Kaneki said once we were outside as a bright smile formed on his lips and his eyes almost glowed with excitement.

"Both our wishes were fulfilled, a boy and a girl..." I giggled at Kaneki's obvious excitement as he just continued to walk beside me without a care in the world and nodding furiously. 

"We'll leave the 11th ward and move to a more safe place for our children... Somewhere like the 4th ward, close enough to the 1st ward and CCG headquarters that there are almost no ghouls there. It'll be the perfect place for them to grow up..." Kaneki said as he gazed up at the bright blue sky above us and continued to hold my hand. I stopped walking as he naturally stopped as well and looked back at me. 

"But... Will you be okay somewhere like that..? The CCG would track you down almost immediately... I don't want them to find you or our kids..." I said as concern began to build up within me. Kaneki just smiled down at me and nodded his head twice.
