Chapter 36 - Reinforcements

(Y/N)'s POV: 

"Well, take it I suppose?" Kaneki said and shrugged, leaning back in the couch as I answered the call and sat down beside him.

"Hi---"

"WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU!?!" An angry voice yelled into my ear from the phone as I moved the phone at least 30 centimeters away from my ear, still being able to hear him clearly as day. 

"ONE OF MY MINIONS BROUGHT IT TO MY ATTENTION THAT YOU TWO, AND BY THAT I MEAN THAT IDIOT TO EYEPATCH AND YOURSELF, ARE WANTED IN THE FUCKING 1ST WARD!?!" He continued as I waited for him to stop yelling so I could get the phone close enough to answer him. 

"Goodmorning Ayato..." I started and looked back at Kaneki who seemed annoyed and entertained at the same time. How can you look annoyed and entertained in the same expression?! I thought and then focused on talking with Ayato again. 

"'Goodmorning Ayato', well goodmorning 1st ward wanted number one! Did you sleep well? How's the weather around you? Can you hear the birds chirping outside?" Ayato said sarcastically as he waited for me to respond. 

"We've slept quite alright, thank you for asking! The sun is shining and yes, the birds can be heard if you listen well enough!" Kaneki said as he had moved so Ayato was able to hear him.

"EYEPATCH IS THAT FUCKING YOU!?!" Ayato growled from the other end of the line as Kaneki just smirked a bit.

"Yep! It's me! Great to hear that you've missed me!" Kaneki teased Ayato as I began laughing silently at them as Chiyoko just sat in her chair with a smile on her face, listening to us. I then turned on the speaker so we could sit a bit more comfortable. 

"You're right, I have missed you... Missed kicking your ass! What the hell are you two up to!? There's not one person in the 1st ward or one person in Aogiri who doesn't know that you're wanted! And what's worse, everyone knows that you're both wanted together! A human and a ghoul! Idiots!!" Ayato started lecturing us as we both seemed to realize that at the same time. He's right... That's a problem... 

"Eto is overjoyed by what has happened! You should have seen her earlier! It seriously creeped me out!" Ayato continued with a stressed voice. 

"Imaginable..." Kaneki muttered, "She already knows about me and (Y/N), she saw us together just before the CCG kidnapped (Y/N)...".

"Kidnapped!?! You were kidnapped by the fucking CCG!?" Ayato asked angrily, but there could be heard some worry for me behind the anger.

"I was, yes, but I'm okay. They didn't do anything to me." I said reassuringly to both Ayato and Kaneki as I had felt Kaneki tense up a bit at the topic. He still feels like it was his fault, perhaps that's why. 

"... And how does she know about the two of you?" Ayato asked.

"She walked up to us as Sen Takatsuki as she apparently had earlier encounters with (Y/N) and Yuki on the streets. She sat down at our cafe table and talked with us, pretending to be Takatsuki. Afterward, I told (Y/N) who she really is, so it won't happen again." Kaneki said in his normal cold tone of voice as he explained to Ayato. 

"And you're sure that neither the CCG nor Aogiri knows where you are?" Ayato asked as we both said yes at the same time. "Then tell me your location and I'll come to you, you guys have to get out of there." Ayato finished as I was about to tell him where we are, but Kaneki interrupted me. 

"We can't tell you the location, but come to the 1st ward and go to our meeting point for missions. I'll send someone to come pick you up as (Y/N) and I can't show ourselves at all outside." Kaneki said as Ayato agreed and the phone call ended.
