Chapter 30 - Reveal

~ The next day - Monday morning ~ 

Kaneki's POV:

(Y/N) and I was walking with Yuki and Aku towards their new school, which were the only thing they had talked about all day yesterday. (Y/N) was also smiling and actively participated in their conversation as we turned around the street corner, now able to see the school. Mine and (Y/N)'s jaws immediately dropped at all the people in front of us. The holy yard was filled with excited children and smiling parents.

"There are so many people..." (Y/N) said, not able to take her eyes off of them either. I then took hold of Yuki's hand to prevent her from running forward as Aku obviously got shy and took hold of (Y/N)'s hand by himself. 

"Look at all the people!" Yuki said in excitement as her eyes sparkled, she's really showing off her happiness... It's actually a little calming and seems to smite off on everyone else around her. I've been using my ghoul senses to look out for other ghouls, but I haven't seen any since we entered the 1st ward. It's not that surprising really, we aren't that far away from The CCG Headquarters so it makes perfect sense. The 1st ward is almost ghoul-free thanks to the CCG being here permanently and that's maybe why I feel a little out of place here. 

We walked into the schoolyard and was suddenly surrounded by people and their kids. I naturally tightened my grip on Yuki a bit and walked closer to (Y/N) as we took each other's hands. She looked up at me, giving me the are-you-okay look and she squeezed my hand a bit. I just gave her a small smile and nodded as we walked into a classroom filled with small kids at the same age as Yuki and Aku. On the other side of the classroom stood a teacher in front of a big whiteboard. 

Yuki the let go of my hand as she quickly took hold of Aku's as the found two tables beside each other. (Y/N) and I walked to stand against the wall like all the other parents were doing.

"Okay, I think that was everyone!" The teacher said clapping her hands twice, bringing everyone's attention to her. "Welcome to Himawari Elementary school, I'm Mrs. Sakamoto and I will be your Japanese and English teacher. We are happy to have you all as students here and when we're finished, you will be some of Japan's best students!" Mrs. Sakamoto said and smiled to all the children. 

~ Time skip - One hour ~ 

All the introductions were over, the parents had met each other, we had talked with the teachers and Yuki and Aku was already making friends with their new classmates. Of course, all the students were to stay till the day was over, but all the parents had been sent home because we had nothing to do there anymore. 

(Y/N) had constantly been looking back at the school as we were leaving, seeming even more nervous than me. 

"(Y/N) relax, it'll be fine. Look at that place," I said as we stopped walking and looked back at the school. "Nothing will happen to them in there. There are way too many people for anyone to get near them, and also, I haven't sensed even one ghoul ever since we left the 4th ward..." I said and held her hand while softly smiling down at her. (Y/N) turned her gaze to me and smiled back at me, giving me a nod.

"You're right Kaneki... It'll be fine." She said and smiled even more, "Wow, we haven't been alone like this for so long..!" She said and immediately hugged me tightly while looking up at me with her eyes filled with happiness. I returned the hug while continuing to smile down at her as we slowly closed the gap between our lips, sharing a brief kiss. 

???'s POV:

(Y/N) (L/N), 23 years old, (h/c) (h/l) hair and (e/c) eyes, human. Ken Kaneki, 23 years old, with bright white hair and silver eyes, half-ghoul, Rinkaku, nickname: Eyepatch. Yuki (L/N), 6 years old, with long white hair and blue eyes, half-ghoul. Aku (L/N), 6 years old, with black hair and hazel eyes, half-ghoul. What an interesting family right here...
