(Y/N)'s POV:
The interrogation was finally over and Mr. Shinohara had said that I was allowed to go home now. They had been very nice to me as they were yesterday too and Juuzou was even accompanying me all the way to the front gate.
"Thanks for leading the way Juuzou." I said and smiled at him as he had his usual smile on.
"No problem (Y/N)!" Juuzou said as we reached the front gate, "oh, I almost forgot! Here's your things, phone, purse, everything!" He said and handed me my bag with a smile.
"Thanks!" I said and took it as we just looked at each other for a moment. I'm actually going to miss him a bit...
"Investigator Suzuya!" Someone yelled from behind us as we looked over to see someone wave Juuzou in his direction. Juuzou just shrugged with a bored look and then looked back at me.
"I have to go, see ya another time!" Juuzou said and gave me a gentle hug. I was a little surprised but just hugged him back.
"Sure thing..!" I said and smiled softly as Juuzou released me and walked away with a smile. I then turned and smiled at the door to my freedom, I'm coming home Kaneki..! I thought as I left the CCG Headquarters.
Of course, I didn't tell them the truth about Kaneki and me, I just played it simple and safe and kept telling them the same over and over. They must have realized that I didn't know anything now that they're finally letting me go.
I couldn't help but keep my guard up, now that I'm all alone out here. I looked up at the sky and saw that the clouds had turned light grey and was beginning to gather. Well, that's just great... Rain! I thought sarcastically to myself as I picked my pace up a bit, hoping to get to the train station before the rain could start.
I fetched my phone from my bag and tried to turn it on. Nothing happened. I sighed and tried again, maybe they turned it on standby? Either that or low battery... Nothing was still happening so I couldn't check if Kaneki had tried to contact me or given me a meeting point. God, I can't even check the time!
I stuffed my phone back into my bag, feeling frustrated about not being able to get in contact with him. I continued to walk down the bussing streets, there were so many people of all kinds and standards around me, minding their own business.
The grey clouds had gotten darker and were slowly developing from a light grey to really a dark grey as small drops of water began to fall. All the people around found their umbrellas and shielded themselves from the light rain, but I didn't have one. Luckily the rain wasn't pouring down but came as small drops which landed lightly on me as I just continued to walk.
After walking for a little while, there were fewer people around as they had all taken shelter from the rain, which was coming down a little harder now. Every once in a while a beam of light would brighten up the sky, followed by the sounds of thunder in the distance. Every time I saw the lighting or heard the thunder, I would tense up a bit and walk faster. Thanks to bad experiences with storms in the past...
I was getting soaked so I decided to take shelter in front of a little shop and waited for the storm to calm down a bit. It was cold and wet and my hands and shoulders were shaking a bit.
~ Flashback - 15 years ago, age 8 ~
The rain was pouring down outside the window, combined with the rapid sounds of thunder and lightning. Every time the lighting came, the thunder would sound few seconds after, signaling that the lightning was really close and could strike our home any minute. My cat Mika was laying on my desk and observing everything as usual.
