Chapter 7 - Explanation

Kaneki's POV:

I held my arms around (Y/N) as she kept whispering comforting things to me. I leaned my head on her shoulder, the one I haven't eaten from, afraid to hurt her again. I cried into it, holding her tighter. I'm a monster (Y/N)... You know I am, look what I did to you..! I thought and kept crying into her shoulder. I could feel my kagune slowly vanishing back into me as I tried to take deep breaths and relax a bit. 

"I'm so sorry (Y/N)... I swear I didn't mean to--" I whispered to her as I slightly looked up at her face, she then quickly cut me off with another kiss. Why aren't you afraid? I carefully returned it and placed a hand on the back of her head. (Y/N) you dumbass... 

"Kaneki it's okay, I'm right here... I swear I won't ever leave you, because... I love you Kaneki..." She whispered to me in a relaxing tone, as she rested against my chest once again. A warm feeling spread in my chest as I looked at her in surprise. 

"I love you too (Y/N)..." I said and looked up at the ceiling trying to stop my crying, but to no use. You're making it really hard for me, you know that right? I thought and smiled slightly. I felt her relax a bit now as she sighed in relief and intertwined our hands. 

"You can relax now Kaneki... Nothings going to happen, and I won't question you about your disappearance anymore... You can talk to me about whenever your ready, I won't force you..." She said in a tired voice as she closed her eyes, falling asleep. My eyes widened a bit, thank you (Y/N)... I then carefully stood up, carrying her in my arms. I looked down at her sleeping face, she looks so peaceful when she sleeps, I thought and carried her to the couch. I carefully put her down on it and looked at her bloody shoulder, I should probably do something about that... 

~ Time skip - 11 hours ~

(Y/N) POV:

I woke up on the couch the next day and sat up as I looked around the living room. Kaneki was sitting in the other end of the couch, sleeping. Gosh, you could have just lied down you know, I thought to myself as I rolled my eyes at him. I shot his sleeping face a little smile and stood up to make us some breakfast. That's when I noticed that my shoulder had bandages on it and that my blood was gone from the floor. Did Kaneki treat my wound while I slept and cleaned off the blood? I looked back at him.

"You didn't have to do that..." I sighed, though I was thankful to him. I reached the kitchen and began making us some coffee. I was about to make us some toast too, but then thought to myself: Wait, ghouls don't eat human food do they? Then how am I supposed to make him breakfast? I glanced in his direction again, he was still sleeping soundly. 

I finished making the coffee and a toast and carried it down to the couch. I sat down and placed the mugs on the table. I took a bite of my toast while peering in Kaneki's direction. He sure does look tired, I wonder how long it's been since we last had a chill moment like this. Just being able to relax at each other's places and enjoy the other one's company. I placed my toast back on the plate and put the plate on the table.

"Kaneki..?" I whispered softly to him and waited for him to respond. He didn't. "Kaneki wake up... I made some coffee for you." I said a little bit louder and I moved to sit beside him. Gosh, he's totally gone... I sighed and put my hand on his as I gave his hand a squeeze. "Kaneki," I said and shook his hand a little. He finally opened his eyes and looked confused at me and our surroundings for a moment.

"(Y/N)..? Oh- Right I forgot that I'm staying at your apartment..." His expression softened as he held onto my hand. "Goodmorning." He said with a little smile as he gently rubbed my hand. I smiled back at him and used my free hand to give him the coffee I made for him.
