My Precious [Kaneki x Reader]

Chapter 16 - Cochlea Part 1

~ Time skip - 5 hours ~ 

(Y/N) POV:

I've been keeping a low profile ever since Kaneki left, but he had been gone for over 5 hours now. I did some research on the whole 'Cochlea thing', and it turns out to be a ghoul-prison somewhere in the 23rd Ward. But why would Aogiri even go near such a place? Wouldn't they just end up getting captured too..? I decided to turn on the News to see if their mission was being covered. 

'Cochlea under attack; live footage!' The title said as a reporter was silently talking to the camera: "As you can see, Aogiri has attacked Cochlea. Several S and SS rated ghouls have been spotted in and/or near the prison, including several of the Aogiri higher ups!" I widened my eyes a bit when Kaneki and Ayato was shown on top of Cochlea with an army of Aogiri members, ready to attack. At least that means they're okay, "Of course, the CCG is currently doing everything they can to hold them off, but no one knows what Aogiri's goal is at the moment." The scene changed to a nearby highway with about 30 trucks driving with sirens on, "The CCG has called for all their best men to help out at the scene, hopefully, that will put an end to it all." I just stared at the screen as it then shifted back to the earlier footage. Aogiri was inside and were now in combat with the guards, but that was all you could see, the camera and reporter stayed out. Possibly the best option to do for them, I smiled to myself as I turned off the TV.  I picked up my phone and send a quick text to Kaneki: 'CCG are sending more troops, please be careful...'. I sighed loudly as I leaned back on the couch and looked out the window. My phone then lit up as it began vibrating. I looked down at it, 'Incoming call: Kaneki'. I raised an eyebrow put quickly picked up the phone.

"Hey? You could have just texted me you know." I teased as I sat up a little straighter again, waiting for him to respond.

"Hello. Who does this phone belong to?" A voice said from the other end as I jumped to my feet and looked down at my phone. Okay... That defiantly isn't Kaneki, that's for sure...

"Umm, who is this..?" I asked, careful not to leak any information. I could hear someone talking in the background.

"I'm First Class Ghoul Investigator Koutarou Amon. Your name was (Y/N) right?" Investigator Amon said as he waited for me to confirm. Amon?! Isn't that the one who came to get information from me at the hospital?! I panicked a little as the next thought came into my head, but if he has Kaneki's phone, then... What happened to Kaneki? 

"T-That's right. Now, where did you find this phone?" I asked as I left no room for questions, I need to know. Amon didn't say anything and it felt like an eternity before he decided to answer. 

"That doesn't matter. I just wanna know who it belongs to, and I don't have much time to spare right now, so I would appreciate a short answer." Amon said sternly. I just laid up and quickly called Ayato. No answer... I looked at the phone for a moment, that's it. I can't just sit here and do nothing! I quickly ran to the bedroom and found some of Kaneki's clothing. I quickly changed into it to cover up my scent as much as possible as I then grabbed my phone and keys and ran out of the apartment.

~ Time skip to Cochlea ~ 

Once I arrived in the 23rd Ward I quickly made my way towards the prison, careful not to attract unnecessary attention from anyone. The last thing I need right now is to get spotted by someone who knows me or Kaneki, mostly because I'm looking and hopefully also smelling like him. 

I could now see Cochlea from where I was as I  saw all see CCG trucks had arrived and it was almost completely surrounded by them. How the fuck am I going to get in there? Surely the CCG won't just let a civil walk in there... I spotted a dead CCG investigator nearby and an idea hit me, What if I... I stared at the dead man as I walked over to him and carefully took his coat off of him. God, I'm gonna regret this... I slowly put on the coat as it were a little too big for me, but not much. Beside the man was a silver case much like the ones Amon and Mado had carried around during their visit.
