Alyssa's POV
Maddy and I grabbed our backpacks and walked down to the sidewalk to meet our friends. They were waiting on us as they talked.
"So full moon tonight," I mentioned when we got down to them, immediately intertwining my fingers with Cameron's.
"Yeah. You guys ready?" Max asked.
"I think so. We know what we need to do to destroy the trident and my mom is going to prep the house so you guys don't get moon struck."
"Tell your mom we say thank you for that," Diana told me.
"I will. Do you guys have your bags packed and ready to come over to my house?"
"Yep, our bags are by the door," Sarah said.
"And mine is in my bedroom, but it's still ready."
"Same for me," Cameron added in. "Maddy, what are you planning to use in place of the crystal, since you don't have a necklace or a moon ring?"
"I was hoping that one of you would be willing to loan me your necklace, just for tonight." Maddy looked between the twins and Max.
"As long as you bring it back, you can borrow mine," Diana offered.
"Thank you."
We got to school and saw Jackson, Alex, and Thomas hanging out in our normal area.
"Hey, guys," Sarah greeted, grabbing her boyfriend's hand and kissing his cheek.
"Where's my brother?" I asked.
Thomas shrugged, walking over to Maddy. "I don't know. He may be running late. It is a full moon."
"True."
"We're staying over tonight, right?" Jackson asked as Diana grabbed his hand.
"Yes. My house, just like last month."
Dalton came running in, barely ready for school. "Hi."
"Hi, what took you so long? You woke up the same time I did," I told him.
"I know, but something came up."
I crossed my arms. "What?"
He looked around the group. "My sister knows."
"That's not news," Cameron interjected, looking at the merman with furrowed brows.
"He's not talking about me, are you?" My gaze shifted from my boyfriend to my brother.
He shook his head. "I'm talking about Leah, my adopted sister. I was drying off after my morning swim and she walked out of the house. She saw my tail and I figured there was no point in keeping it a secret anymore. I told her everything."
"Everything?" Maddy, the one who had the most at stake, asked while everyone else's eyes just went wide.
"Yes, everything. Our powers, who all has tails, our mom," he glanced over at me, "our origins, everything."
"Wow," Was all Max could get out.
I released Cameron's hand and hugged my brother. "How did she take it?" I asked quietly as I pulled back.
"Okay. It's just a lot for her to process. And now she's worried about me not coming back after the full moon tonight."
"Join the club," I muttered.
"Hey, I'm going to come back. With you and Maddy after we destroy the trident. You need to stop worrying."
"I can't. Like I told you this morning, I have this terrible feeling in my stomach that something's going to go wrong."
