Alyssa's POV
I woke up the next morning to my blaring alarm. I rolled over and slapped the snooze button. I fell back asleep and five minutes later my sister came in. "Alyssa get up. It's the first day of school."
I groaned and turned over. "If you don't get up now, I'll get the water." Her words didn't totally process through my half awake brain, so I just pulled my comforter over my head. "Suit yourself." I heard her footsteps fade, but they returned a few minutes later. I then felt cold water falling on me.
I gasped as I pulled the comforter off of my head and watched Megan walk away before my tail appeared. Gladly, it was hidden by the blanket. I called for Megan. She came in. "What?"
"Can you shut my door?" I made sure to keep everything from the neck down covered.
"Why?"
"Because I want to have some privacy while I'm getting up."
"Whatever." She shut the door and I pulled the comforter off of me. I sighed as I dried myself.
Once I had legs again, I got up and walked to my closet. I picked out a cute orange shirtsleeved top with a lacy on the top of the back of it and ruffles covering the front. For bottoms, I chose a white skirt with a little pattern sown into the bottom of it. Last, but not least, I picked out a pair of sandals that had white bands that held the shoes on with a small bow on each band.
I looked in the mirror and was satisfied with my clothes, but not with my hair. I went into the bathroom and ran a comb through my hair. I chose to get out the straightener and slightly curl the ends of my red hair. Once my hair was done, I went downstairs to get breakfast. I got a bowl of cereal and a pop-tart and carefully ate them.
I finished and ran upstairs to brush my teeth. That's right, I've figured out how to brush my teeth without getting wet. It's hard, but it's possible. I'm not going to go into details about how, but I got it done.
I finished getting ready and grabbed my backpack, keys, phone, and lunchbox. I opened the door and found Cameron who was about to knock on the door. "Hey, babe."
"Hey, what are you doing here?"
"I thought that I would walk my mermaid girlfriend to school to make sure she doesn't get wet on the way."
"Thanks." I kissed him on the cheek as we intertwined our fingers and started the walk to school.
We got to the sidewalk and Max, Sarah, and Diana were waiting for us. I noticed that Diana was wearing a dress, wedges, light makeup, and her hair was really curly. "Wow, Diana. What's the occasion?"
"They made me do it." She pointed at Max and Sarah.
"You look amazing. Why did you make her do it?"
"Because we want to show Jackson how good she can look."
"Does someone have a little crush?"
Diana blushed a deep shade of red. "Maybe."
"Awe, how cute! My little tomboy friend is becoming a girl." I lightly ruffled her hair, but Sarah put a death grip on my wrist.
"Don't touch her hair. I spent a long time on it."
"Ow! I think I'm losing circulation in my hand." Sarah released my hand and I took it into my other hand to help it recover. "Anyway, Sarah, welcome to our mermaid club."
She giggled. "Thanks."
"Yeah, we don't take just anybody. Only people of the highest order," Diana said with a posh accent.
