Diana's POV

I looked over to see my sister swim into a rock. I dashed over to her, picked her up, and pulled her to the surface. I saw shore, and swam her over. Everybody was right behind us.

"Alyssa, dry us off. We need to get help." Alyssa had all eight of us dry in a couple minutes.

"What are we going to say happened to her? We can't just tell them that she was speed swimming, looked back at her mermaid friends, and then ran into a rock," Max reasoned.

"You're right. We can tell them that she tripped and hit her head on a rock," I suggested. "Now, let's go. My sister's losing a lot of blood."

I picked her up and carried her to Mrs. Dameron's car. I set her in the backseat and sat at her feet. The other girls piled into Mrs. Jeremy's car. Mrs. Camp and Mrs. Net were going to call the boys and wait on them to get home. Then they were going to divide into the two cars and drive to the hospital.

"Please hurry, Mrs. Dameron." Tears were threatening to spill from my eyes.

"I'm going five over. I can't go any faster or I'll get pulled over."

"I'll pay any tickets that you get for it. Just please hurry."

"Fine." She floored it and got pulled over five seconds later. She pulled over and the policeman walked to her window.

"Ma'am, do you know that you were going twenty miles over the speed limit?"

"Yes, I'm just trying to rush to the hospital. I have a girl in the back who's loosing a lot of blood." He looked back at Sarah and I. I gave him a pleading look.

"I could give you a police escort if you want. That girl looks pretty bad."

"Please do. Thank you so much." He walked back and pulled in front of us. He turned his siren on and we began to speed down the road. The entire time I watched my sister and prayed that she was okay.

Finally, we pulled up to the hospital. Before the car stopped, I picked up Sarah and rushed her in. Immediately, a doctor took her back. She was taken to the emergency room. I followed, but was stopped by a nurse who told me to go to the waiting room. I walked in and looked up from my feet to see my friends sitting there.

"Mrs. Net called. They're on their way over," Mrs. Jeremy informed me. I nodded and sat down next to Max.

I started to cry and immediately had arms around my shoulders. I cried into the person's shoulder for a little while until I heard the door open. I looked up to see that the boys had arrived. Jackson noticed me crying and ran over. He hugged me and I cried into his shirt.

"It's okay. Sarah will make it through this. She's a tough girl." He rubbed my back gently.

"It won't be okay. Jackson, she lost so much blood that she could die. I don't know what I'd do without her. She's my best friend."

"I'm going to call your parents and Alex." I heard footsteps fade and a door open and close. I continued to ball into Jackson's shirt.

My sister could be dying and I wouldn't know it. I was just sitting here, in the waiting room, crying.

"Who's here for Sarah Smith?"

I stood up. "We all are."

"Have I met you before?"

"I'm Sarah's twin sister. How is she?"

"Her head is pretty gashed up. She's still unconscious, but you can go see her."

"Thanks."

"Before you go, how did she hit her head?"

"She tripped and hit her head on a rock."
