When I opened my eyes the clock says it's 5:15 am. I'm not a morning person but I don't feel like going back to sleep. I changed into lighter clothes, the ones I used to wear whenever I go for a run.

The sun is still asleep when I come out. The cold morning breeze swept my face and the sound of waves greeted me.

"Good morning" I said softly to no one in particular.

After some stretching I started to run. Slowly at first but gradually I increase my speed until I feel like my chest is going to explode. I didn't stop until I feel like I'm on my last breath. When I stopped, my legs were numb and my knees are shaking. I sat down on the pavement, facing the sea.

The sun is finally awake. Making a grand entrance wearing beautiful colors that is never quite the same every day.

Time check: 5:45 am

After saving some breath I made my way back.

I should've save more.

"Alex"

I stared on the figure standing in front of me. Now I know how it feels like when you see a ghost.

Unexpectedly, it will be standing in front of you and your mind isn't fast enough to comprehend what is happening. Air trapped in your lungs. Your body shaking involuntarily.

"Eve"

Finally, after a very long silence. I was able to say that word and I was able to breathe.

"Alam kong hindi mo inaasahang makita ako. At hindi ako ang inaasahan mong makita. Sorry kung na-disappoint kita" she said. Then smiled shyly as if we were close friends who haven't seen each other for decades.

"Anong ginagawa mo dito?" I said in a flat tone.

"I'm here to save Xander"

I didn't respond. I don't know how to. I don't know what to say. Save Xander?

"You seem clueless. Ofcourse you are. You always have been". Her tone suddenly changes to the usual Eve that I know.

"If you know that much, then stop talking in circles." I reverted back to my usual self as well. As if a switch has been turned on.

She brought something out of her bag. A black journal. She handed it to me.

"DEATH NOTE" is written on the cover.

"Ano to?" I asked Eve. Puzzled.

"Open it".

A cold wind swept my skin as soon as she spoke bringing chills all over my body.

With trembling hands I flip through the cover.

"LXI" is written in a calligraphy fashion. With a picture of two smiling boys at the top of the page.

"Dwayne &Luke. Best friends since birth, live to become brothers, no death can take us apart".
