Lee Yoonji
I'm in the kitchen, helping my mom to prepare some things.
It's almost dinner time and my dad with my sister will be coming any minute.
And I feel so scared, uneasy and I don't know anymore.
'Noona? Are you okay?' It's Yongjin. He's helping me to set the tables while my mom preparing our desserts.
'Uh, yeah. I'm fine.' I said and went back to setting some glasses on the table.
'Are you sure? I'll just do this alone if you still feel tired from the trip.' He said. I just nodded.
'I'm fine.' I said and gave him a tight smile.
After a few minutes, I heard a honk from outside. I stiffened on my place. I saw my mom came out from the kitchen with another dish and placed it on the table.
'Your Dad is here.' She said and went to the door.
I heard the door opened and the familiar steps that belonged to him. My back is facing the entrance of the dining.
As the steps halted, I heard his voice.
'Yoonji.' I inhaled deeply and turned around.
I guarded my emotions and looked at him.
'Dad...'
Third Person POV
The dinner was not that awkward.
Well for Yoonji, all that's happening on the table is really awkward.
Her sister and brother kept on talking to their mom. While she was trying to eat the food in front of her.
'So, Yoonji. How's life at Seoul?' It's her sister; Sohee, who asked her. She looked at her and smiled a little.
'It's fine there.' Then she looked at her food again.
'Fine? That's what you learned from there? Just being fine?' Her father's voice is hard and strict boomed across the room. 'I didn't agree about you going to Seoul just to be fine.'
She just kept quiet and looked down. Her family turned silent. No one dared to talk or made a noise.
She saw her mom touched her dad's arm and gesturing Sohee and Yongjin to continue eating.
'I told you to go and study where your sister finished her college, so you won't tell us here about being fine.' It's her dad again. 'Looked at your sister. If you only listen to me.'
'Dad...' It's her mom, calming her dad.
Yoonji clenched her jaw.
It's always like this.
That's what in her mind. She stood up, not caring what will her dad say or what everyone says.
'Thanks for the food.' She bowed to her mom and walked upstairs.
'See that? I told you, don't let her go there. Looked at her right now.' She heard her dad's disappointed voice, guessing that he was talking to her mom.
Yoonji went to her room and locked the door.
Once she locked the door, she let her tears to fall.
I shouldn't come here.
She sat on the floor, facing her bed.
I'm such a failure.
She was covering her mouth the whole time she cried so they won't hear her crying. Hear her weak side. So they won't compare her with her sister, again.
When midnight strikes and her tears subsided, she picked her phone and wallet and went out of her room.
She went to the kitchen to drink some water before leaving then she saw her sister sitting on the counter. Her sister looked at her.
'Yoonji...' Yoonji just looked down and went to the fridge. 'Are you okay?' Her sister asked.
I'm not.
She looked at her sister and nodded. She poured some water on glass and drank it.
'I'll just go somewhere.' Yoonji said and got out from the kitchen.
'Where? It's midnight already.' She halted because of her sister's question. She side glance her.
'Somewhere. And don't follow.' And went straight to the front door. She left her sister stunned on the kitchen.
Yoonji went to the nearest convenient store. She can't stay on that house. Not when guilt and fear is consuming her.
She's mad. Mad because of what her dad said. Mad because her sister was there. And lastly, she's more mad because of herself.
Why I am like this?
She bought cans of beer and sat outside the convenient store.
She looked at the dark sky and see nothing except the crescent moon. It looked like a sad smile.
Perfect. Like what I'm feeling right now.
She's down on her second can. She had a very low tolerance with alcohol and she's a bit tipsy right now.
She didn't even notice the guy in front of her.
The guy was shocked, confused and worried at the same time. He's just looking to the girl, who kept on drinking and looking on the sky.
Yep, it's her. But why is she here.
He was about to call her when she suddenly looked at him. He got startled and stunned. He even forgot to closed his mouth.
'You...' It's Yoonji's word when she saw him.
The guy in front of her froze and opening his mouth like he was going to say something and closed it one more time.
