15 months later...

Nicole Alison Greene stepped out of the airport and inhaled the November breeze of Ontario. It was so nice to finally come home.

After a year of internship in Seoul, South Korea, she was approved to go home. But there were some problems regarding her visa, making her stay three more months in the country. But she loved it. Besides, she has no one who will wait for her to be back in here.

As she hopped inside the cab, she exhaled loudly, closing her eyes. The local time was 1 AM and she still needed time to get used to the time zone difference.

She almost fell asleep during the ride but the cab was a little bit of a rough lift for her liking.

As soon as she arrived back at her apartment, she kicked her shoes away, not minding her luggage by the door, and flopped down the bed. She needed sleep because tomorrow, more like later, is another day.

As soon as the sun was up, so was Alison. Still half-asleep, she quickly prepared to go to the university hospital where she'll start her residency.

Montierre University Hospital.

This isn't just a hospital for Alison. This is her home. For the past years since she started her pre-med course, she envisioned herself being here multiple times, treating sick people and the elderly.

Having no parents and relatives to rely on, she became so independent at an early age. She was 15 when her parents died. They were both killed in a traffic accident involving a drunk driver who crushed them dead in the cold street while they were walking back home.

After burying her parents, she locked herself in their home. Even with people knocking, probably the social workers to try and convince her to go with them, she didn't open the door.

As soon as she finished high school, she applied for many scholarships and was lucky enough to be granted the most prestigious one in Montierrè Institute of Medicine.

She was chosen for the exchange internship program in South Korea which she happily accepted. And now that she's back after 15 months, she'll be so happy to see this hospital where she envisioned herself working for the rest of her life.

Today, she will officially start her second-year residency here. This is where she belongs.

With a huge smile on her face, she exhaled loudly.

Alison started walking towards the office of Lucas Morgan, her favorite professor way back in medical school.

"Alison! You're back, finally!" The man in a white coat greeted her upon entering the glass-covered office.

Intricate calligraphy that says his name in marble was the first thing she noticed on his table.

Lucas Morgan, M.D
Head, Cardiothoracic Surgery Department

"Hi, Professor. How have you been?" She grinned as she kissed his cheeks.

The almost 53-year-old man grinned back at her, making the resemblance to someone she was well acquainted with more obvious than it already was. She closed her eyes lightly to shake her thoughts away from her thoughts about her acquaintance.

"I'm good now that my favorite student is finally here. How was the internship?"

"Oh, everything's great back there. The people were very welcoming. Of course, it was hard at first because of the difference in language but later on, it became very easy to understand them especially if we talk the same jargon. And their skills, oh, I feel like I'm in a movie every time I get to see them in action! Lastly, the food is to die for!" She excitedly told him.
