Alison thought something was wrong with her eyes as if she was seeing things. But the glass wall of the entire restaurant is squeaky clean her eyes can't play tricks on her.
From her spot outside the restaurant, she can see her boyfriend with some other girl. Her hand unconsciously touched her chest.
But she wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she was a relative. A long-lost relative that he missed and is hugging tightly right now.
But Hayden quickly lost that benefit when he pulled from that hug and kissed the girl in his arms.
Clearly, relatives don't kiss on the lips, with obvious passion and hunger.
There was only one girl he would go crazy about. And sadly, it wasn't her. She doesn't need a picture to recognize the girl his boyfriend is kissing right now.
Nicole. She can see Nicole's closed eyes as she kisses her boyfriend, Hayden.
Her stomach lurched at the sight. She wanted to leave right away or else, someone might recognize her and feel sorry because her boyfriend is cheating on her. And she doesn't need it right now.
'Was it really cheating if I knew from the start that it's always been Nicole that he loves and not me?'
She smiled her this-is-so-fucked-up smile, at her thought.
But why the hell can't she move her feet? Away from the scene that's making her heart twist painfully inside her chest.
Well, it's because she doesn't want to be an idiot protagonist in a movie who just left without waiting for the end of the scene.
God knew Alison was calling all the angels and prayed for that turning point. She trusted him. She knew he would never do this to her. At least not until he broke up with her first.
She waited patiently. She waited for him to push her away and leave her alone because he's got a girl waiting for him.
She waited.
And waited.
And got disappointed.
The turning point never came. Instead, she watched Hayden pull her even more to his body to deepen the kiss. His fingers slid through her hair and kissed the life out of her.
She laughed bitterly and shook her head as she wiped her tears away.
"Damn, that hurts." She said to herself and decided to finally stop her agony.
She immediately went to his place and changed her clothes. It's a good thing that he kept a place for her real clothes here, the one that she truly owned, or else, she would have chosen to go home naked.
"When I finally decided to dress up for him, this is what I get in return? Fuck." She said, wiping her tears away.
She found a paper bag and put her belongings, leaving all the things he bought.
It wasn't for her anyway. He was thinking of Nicole when he bought those things. It doesn't belong to her.
How come she was able to think that he would eventually see her for who she is? Because in reality, it was just her illusion. That at some point, for all those things that he did, how he cared, how he treated her, she hoped that he has come to love her.
After making sure that there is no trace of her left, like she has never been here, she took one last glance at his apartment that she has come to love and left.
