Alison exhaled the moment she was out the door. She pulled her hair out of frustration.
'What the hell is wrong with him?'
She just wanted to eat. Peacefully!
But Alison soon realize that she was at fault. Why did she even go with him in the first place? She knew he was trouble. She promised herself not to associate herself with him anymore.
And then, she easily went with him? Without putting up a fight?
She is still in love with him. She knew it. She can feel it. She can her heart responding to the way he touched her hand and held it carefully. But Alison knew that she cannot be swayed by his actions anymore. Not when he is madly in love with someone else. She's been there.
She wiped the sweat forming in her head and went straight to her car. Maybe what she needs is sleep and not food.
She decided to just go straight home and sleep this madness off.
The next day, it went off peacefully, without Hayden interrupting her. For some reason, the emergency room had been full of patients for the day, so she was able to drift her mind away to other things.
'Why would I think of him anyway?'
When it was time for her to get off work, she decided to visit her old friends since tomorrow's her day off.
Hours later, she found herself in front of Breakfree, the place closest to her heart.
It was all the same. It's just that the name Breakfree on top of the place shines brightly in neon lights rather than the billboard-style name she remembered more than a year ago.
She entered discreetly. She didn't recognize the guard but luckily, he let her in.
She roamed around the place. It was all the same. She can see familiar faces in a crowd of people chattering to their own group of friends.
The stage was still in the same place, dimly lit in front. And then her eyes roamed to the bar area. Her smile grew wide as she saw Nike inside, mixing drinks.
He didn't notice her arrival so she tried getting his attention.
"A shot of tequila, please." She said, covering her face with her hair.
"Coming right up," after a minute, he said, "here you go. Along with salt and-- Alison? Is that you? You're back!" His eyes widened as he finally recognized her.
"Hello, Nike. How are you?" She said as she rounded her way inside the bar area and hugged Nike. He kissed her cheeks and hugged her back.
"I'm good. Great, even. When did you get back?"
"A couple of weeks ago. Never had the chance to visit because I started my residency right away. How's Olive?"
"She's wonderful. She's with our baby boy now. Come, let's go see her."
Nike had to call for someone to look after the bar area while he was away before ushering her towards the back door, leading them to the front door of their home.
"Babe, I have a surprise for you," Nike called his wife in a sing-song manner, she chuckled.
"In the kitchen, babe!" Olivia's sweet voice echoed across the living room.
"What's your surprise this time?" She asked him curiously as she stuffed something in the fridge. Closing it, she looked up to him and noticed Alison standing behind her husband.
"Oh my God! Alison!" Olivia squealed and closed the distance between them. "Hello there, Olivia," Alison said as she hugged her back.
"Now that I served my purpose, I'll leave you two to catch up." Nike planted a kiss on his wife's forehead and messed Alison's hair before walking away and heading upstairs to check his son.
