Alison rolled to her side as she slowly opened her eyes. She picked up her phone and saw that it was already 6:38 PM.
She sat up abruptly. "Shit." Her alarm didn't come off and she was late. Hayden must be pissed off now.
"It's always a fine sight, seeing you like that, babe," Hayden said, slowly sitting up, facing Alison.
It turns out, Hayden has been watching her sleep for an hour now.
"Hayden! Wh-why didn't you wake me up earlier? I thought you'd pick me up at six."
"Well, you sleep so well that I can't take waking you up. My surprise can wait, babe."
Alison straightened her hair before crawling into Hayden's lap. She kissed him on his lips then went to his neck. She inhaled loudly, kissing his neck before nuzzling his nose in the crook of his neck.
Hayden laughed and caressed her hips. "You look really tired so I let you sleep some more." He kissed her head.
"Hmm. You smell mighty fine, Chef. Can we stay like this forever?" She closed her eyes and buried her face to his neck.
Hayden chuckled. She loves doing this whenever they cuddle.
"We will, Doctor, but for now, get dressed because I suddenly want to show you my surprise."
Minutes later, the two arrived at their destination.
"Wha... Wow."
Alison touched a small flower hanging everywhere. She looked at the path she was walking, which is, by the way, covered in petals of roses in different colors. The whole place is!
Hayden's restaurant transformed into another place like it was pulled straight out from a fairytale book.
The glass walls are covered with thick curtains and the place is illuminated only by fairy lights like stars in the sky. Flowers of different colors are delicately hanging everywhere. Chairs and tables were gone and were replaced by a couch and a comforter right in the middle. She noticed the basket full of their favorite foods, a bottle of tequila, glasses, and a bouquet of tulips. In addition, there's a flat-screen television in front.
"Surprise?" He whispered in her ear, hugging her from behind.
"It's beautiful. How did you do all of this?"
Hayden led her in the middle. He helped her remove her sneakers as they sat on the couch.
"I had a little help from Adam and our employees here. Honestly, this is not the original plan. We should be doing this under the stars. But the sky didn't cooperate. So I had to improvise and make it look like we are under the stars." He explained. "Flowers?" He handed the bouquet of tulips.
She accepted the flowers and smelled them. "Thank you. You know you don't have to do this."
"And you know, I always want to do these things. For you."
"Thank you." She smiled and kissed him on the lips. "But why? I mean our birthdays are not until after a couple of months."
"Well, I wanted to celebrate the day I first saw you."
"Change of heart, eh? I thought you don't want to celebrate anniversaries because it's kind of cheesy." She said as she picked up a sandwich from the basket. He handed one to Hayden.
"I don't but I just realized this day is worth celebrating for. Do you know that my mum forced me to go to my dad's office that day? But I'm so glad that I did."
"Stop right there. Are you talking about THAT day?" Alison stopped chewing and looked at Hayden, wide-eyed.
Hayden laughed. "That day when you were sleeping like a corpse on the couch? Yes. That very same day."
"Seriously? Do you remember that? I thought you only remember the time when we met at the bar. I didn't even think you'd remember my face when we first had sex." Pieces of bread fall off from Alison's mouth.
Hayden wiped some on her lower lip. He pulled her so that she'll sit on his lap. Alison obliged, still eating, she looked up at him. "Of course, I remember! I remember your eyes—the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen. I got a little sidetracked for a moment when Nicole came back. I loved her so much that I didn't think of anything else when I saw her again. It was like a part of my brain became complete and I thought, I am unconsciously waiting for her to come back."
"Uh-huh." Alison urged him to continue as she picked some chips from the basket.
Hayden tightened his arms around her.
"For a moment, I believed what I felt for you wasn't real. I kept convincing myself that I wasn't in love with you, that it will always be Nicole. But then, I saw you that day at the coffee shop. I saw your eyes and I felt like my whole world shifted back to what it was supposed to be. The feelings that I thought weren't real, turned out to be the only right thing I've done in my whole life. You gave me everything and more. That night at the bar, I recognized your eyes. It's the same eyes that I thought I'd forgotten. And I'm so glad that you ended up underneath me, naked. Don't you know that I dreamt of you every day ever since that night? I always woke up needing to go under a cold shower you know." He looked down at her. "Why are you crying?" He chuckked as he wiped her tears away, kissing her eyes.
"I don't know. I'm just so happy I guess? I never thought I'd end up here with you. When I left for Korea, I was so sure that you didn't love me. At all."
"I'm so sorry for that, babe. I'm so sorry you had to go through all that."
"How many times do I have to tell you that I've already forgiven you. But right now, can we, like, lay down on the floor instead? The duvet looks warm and cuddly down there."
He smiled. And let her sit on the floor. She covered herself with a blanket and turned on the television. "Netflix, huh."
"Cheers?" He offered the shot of tequila to Alison before sitting beside her, covering himself with the same blanket. Alison instantly put her head on his chest.
"This is nice." She said as she put down her empty glass, clicking on the remote control. She settled for a romance movie.
"A Christmas Prince? Really?" He said as he poured tequila into his glass. "It's not even Christmas yet."
"What? Royal families have sexy accents!"
By the time they got into the second movie, tequila is already taking over their body.
"The prince is kind of an arsehole, don't you think so, babe?"
"Well, I'm only looking at you so I don't really know what you're talking about." He slurred as he nuzzled his nose to her neck.
"You're impossible." She said then emptied the bottle. She noticed that Hayden's alcohol tolerance is kind of low.
She continued to watch but she can feel his hands roaming around, caressing her skin.
She closed her eyes. She's tipsy, alright? But she thinks it's because of Hayden's hands all over her body rather than the tequila they drank tonight.
"You smell so nice, babe. I want to kiss you and kiss you forever." He whispered against her neck as his right hand sneaked inside her shirt, softly kneading her bra-covered breast.
"Why don't we finish this movie first?" She said, wrapping her arms around him.
"Hmm. Don't wanna." He whined as he slowly snapped her bra. He took it off and she groaned.
"Why are you seducing me?" She said, kissing his cheek.
"Well, are you seduced now? Can we start kissing and get naked?" He said, his tequila breath fanning against her face. She smiled fondly.
"What if I do? What will you do to me?"
