At 5 AM, Alison was on her way to the hospital. It's been 3 weeks since she started her second-year residency. Now, she was used to the busy environment, the constant wailing and shouting of people around, the sight of patients who are injured waiting to be treated.

As soon as she arrived, she changed into her scrubs.

"Good morning, Dr. Greene." Grace greeted her upon entering the ER. She was holding a tablet where the patients' data were written.

She curtly nodded and replied, "Good morning, Dr. Yu. Where are the others?" She asked when she doesn't see the usual group they had.

"Someone called here an hour ago. A building for construction collapsed and a lot of workers were trapped inside. The guys went with the paramedics." She said then walked away.

Alison retrieved the data of the patients under her name on the computer and started reviewing them.

"Someone help me, please." Alison heard someone shout from the entrance. She looked for a brief moment but went back to reading when she saw Grace run towards them along with two nurses.

"This guy decided to kill himself with a knife but wasn't successful enough to cut all of his limbs." Sarcasm was dripping from his voice. She shook her head, "typical." She said to herself as she went back to reading.

Some of the nurses on the station laughed at her making her cheeks red.

"Dr. Greene, I need your help." Grace poked her arm, calling her attention.

She closed the windows on the computer and looked at her.

"Can you take over? Bed 7 needs attention." Grace said, pointing at the patient in bed 7 that she treated earlier. Alison just nodded in acceptance.

"Thank you," Grace said with a wink.

Alison dispensed a generous amount of sanitizer and rub it all over her hands. She then got a pair of disposable latex gloves, put them on as she walked towards the bed. She pulled the curtain aside and step inside before pulling it to hide them from other patients. Her eyes are fixed on the patient lying on the bed as she walked in. His eyes closed, his face is pale and his left arm is dangling from the bed, dripping with blood.

She carefully examined the open wound for its depth or possible nerve, vein, or artery damage.  The wound is three inches long on his forearm.

"How did he got hurt?" Alison asked but a nurse came in with a clipboard in his hands before the guardian can even answer. "Sir, how are you related to the patient?"

The man didn't answer right away for his eyes are fixed on one person - Alison.

He inhaled sharply as he looked at Alison. She was completely different from the last time she saw him. Good different. He now knew that she's a doctor courtesy of his father but now that he finally sees her in a white gown, she looks so much better than in his imagination.

"Sir?" The nurse nudged him.

"Y-yes?" This time, he turned his head to the nurse beside him.

"How are you related to the patient?"

"He's my best friend and business partner, too." He whispered, enough for the nurse to hear.

"Could you fill out this form?" He nodded and got the clipboard in his hands.

He sat on the chair beside the bed where his best friend lies, still unconscious.

"How did your friend got hurt, Sir?" He heard Alison say. Her voice stopped him from writing and completely turned his full attention to the girl he's been looking for.
