Hayden removed his chef hat and threw it across his table. He sat on the swivel chair and glanced at the clock in front of him.

It's past five and it's time to wait for Alison.

The past days were difficult. Especially, the part where he had to beg his father to tell him more about Alison.

After the incident at the coffee shop more than a year ago, he was intrigued by what she said about her relationship with his father.

He recalled a faint memory at the back of his head. It was of a redhead sleeping on the couch at his dad's office a few years back.

'That was her!'

So he asked his father about her. But it wasn't easy for him. And it didn't help that Hemera and his mother were so hot on his tail for what he did to Alison.

'I know, I'm an ass.'

He had no choice but to tell his family. He needed the information in exchange for what happened between them 15 months ago.

That's how he knew that in an hour, Alison's shift at the hospital will end. He just hoped that she got the flowers he bought for her.

With an hour left, he quickly changed his clothes into a shirt and jeans paired with sneakers. Adam is here to manage in his absence. Inside the kitchen, his sous chef is excellent at his work.

They decided to expand the restaurant and build another branch here in Ontario. It was a good decision because it's in the city. And what's best is Alison now works at the hospital across the street.

Before, he was so blinded by his love for Nicole that he was unable to recognize the love that Alison offered to him was far more genuine than any other love in this world.

It was too late when he realized that. The last time he saw her was in that coffee shop while he was out on a date with Nicole.

Hayden didn't expect to see Alison there. Actually, as bad as it may sound, he forgot about her the moment Nicole texted him that she was in town.

But when he saw Alison a week after he met Nicole again, he didn't expect his heart to flinch in pain. Her blue eyes turned a shade darker as she looked at him in pain and disappointment. He didn't recognize it. It wasn't the same eyes that he allowed himself to be lost with.

He didn't expect Alison to deny him as well. When she told Nicole that she had nothing to do with him, he wanted to remind her of the things they did.  Because in reality, during their two-month relationship, they spent their time together, going out on dates and in bed, underneath him and fully naked for him to lavish. So why the hell would she tell Nicole that she didn't know him?

After that day, she started messing with his head. Her image on the coffee shop the moment their eyes met kept on haunting him down even in his sleep. Her electric blue eyes that were once filled with laughter and adoration for him were gone and were replaced by hollow orbs that irked him.

Then Nicole told him the next week, she had to leave again. He realized Nicole wasn't really the one he wanted anymore. She wasn't the girl he pictured himself with in the future.

It was Alison.

So he ended it all with Nicole. And he was beyond relieved after that. But it was too late. Alison was nowhere to be found.

And now that she's back, he's never letting her go. Not now. Not ever.

...

Alison removed her coat and put it in a hanger inside the locker assigned to her.
