Alison woke up feeling slightly under the weather. Her head was throbbing so she looked for some Tylenol and popped it in her mouth.
After a couple of minutes later, she's already in front of the busy Emergency Room.
"What's with the face?"
She looked at Grace beside her as she grabbed the tablet from the station.
"Just a terrible migraine."
Grace nodded, still busy reading something from her own tablet.
"Good morning, Dr. Greene." Jonas greeted her.
She nodded. "Hey, morning."
"What's up?" He asked her as he twirled his pen in his hand.
She shrugged and looked at the screen in her hands.
"Migraine is up. I'll go check bed no. 14." She said before walking towards the bed.
She didn't feel like talking too much today so instead, she just saved her energy as she attended to her patients.
In the afternoon, patients keep coming. Alison had no time to eat properly along with the other resident doctors on duty.
'Oh, the joy of being a resident.' She mumbled.
"Doctor Greene." A nurse called her. She put back the clipboard she was holding and smiled at her.
"Someone's here for you. I told him to wait at the garden area."
"Do you have his name?"
"No, I'm sorry. Should I tell him to go back next time?"
"Oh. It's fine, thank you. I'll go out first. Ring me in case of emergency. I'll be quick." The nurse nodded as she made her way towards the exit.
"Hayden? What are you doing here?" She instantly recognized his back. She must have memorized his whole being to be able to recognize him even from afar.
He turned around and faced her.
Alison looked everywhere but him. She can feel her cheeks heating up as she remembered his last message that was three weeks ago. For days, she hated herself for waiting for him to do something about his 'I will come to you' statement. But he did nothing. Sure, she received a few texts here and there. He also delivered his Mum's gift from New York with a flower but she can't help but expect more. She soon realized that it was wrong of her to expect from him.
As always, she went on with her life and forgot about him for a while. Until now.
"Hi." He smiled. "Well, sorry to interrupt you on your busy day but it's Hemera's birthday today and I'm wondering if you want to come with me later for her celebration. She told me to pick you up actually."
Alison smiled genuinely.
Hemera has been spamming her phone since dawn to come later for her party. But she doesn't have the time to buy her a gift. She'll just give it to her next time.
"Yeah. She's been reminding me to come to her party later." She chuckled. "I still have my duty until 9 though so you don't have to wait for me. I can go on my own. And please tell her that I'll come no matter what. No need to send you out to convince me." She laughed at Hemera's wicked schemes.
The other day, Hemera has been bugging her to go shopping but her duty has been prohibiting her to go. And Hemera thought that she might ditch her again so she sent her brother for Alison to come.
She stood up, ready to leave. But Hayden's words stopped her. "I'll be here at 9. I'll pick you up and we'll go home together." He said as his voice sounded so close to her ears, turning out to be a whisper. She shivered at how close he is.
