I hung up the phone for the fifth time today. The same woman complaining about loiterers kept calling. Something the president doesn't have time to deal with. People often think that they have some sort of special right to speak with him directly for their problems, the police could easily deal with.
This job had its downside, but it also does have its perks. I enjoyed organizing RM's schedule, but I think my favorite part is to just speak with him. He has a positive mind and way of thinking. Intelligent and interesting.
Years ago, he and his rebel group dug my skull up, my brain untouched by the explosions they had caused. He was responsible for convincing Yoongi to build me a new body. To bring me back. It took me roughly a year to undo the emotional trauma JK01 inflicted and forced on me. He really changed my personality. At least Yoongi helped me see that in myself. I like to think that I want to be helpful. That I don't want to cause harm to people, whether it is physical or emotional.
I felt horrible that I was a big part of the reason why Yoongi was a cyborg, and possibly the reason why Hoseok is dead. I owe Yoongi, but have never found a way that I could make it up to him.
I sorted through some files on the computer hoping to have them organized before RM came back from his lunch break.
The phone rang, and I was just praying it wasn't the shop owner again.
"Hello, you've reached RM's headquarters, Jin speaking." I answered.
"It's Yoongi can you let me up?" I looked at RM's schedule.
"You don't have an appointment with him today." I was a bit confused. Yoongi never came here for visits anymore.
"I came to talk to you. It'll just take a minute." He seemed very serious which made me feel like this was urgent. I hesitated a moment and then pressed the button to let him in.
It only took him about five minutes to reach the office waiting area. Jimin, Tae and another woman I didn't recognize was with him.
"What can I do for you today?" I asked politely.
"Is RM in his office?"
"No, he's on his break."
"I need a list of missing persons from the last few years." I recognized that look on his face. It looked like he was as determined as he was back when he was in his human body, on that operation chair.
"You don't have authority to access that information."
"Listen, I'm going to be straight with you, there have been some specific events that have been happening that make us believe your previous boss might have found a way to get out of that prison cell, or maybe he has a copycat somewhere in the city. We need that list and we need to know anything you might have known about his old plans."
I looked at the woman who seemed distracted by the artwork near the front door of the room.
"Does this have to do with her?" I was serious now.
"Maybe" He said sounding protective. A new emotion from Yoongi in this body.
I sighed. I had a feeling RM might have been funding something, I just hoped it wasn't related to something like this. Maybe it isn't. But for Yoongi, I'll have to dig deeper to make sure.
"I'm sorry Yoongi I can't give you confidential information. Just make a report to the police. It's their job to take care of these things. You're not a part of the rebel group anymore. What ever it is that you're doing. It's not your responsibility anymore." I mouthed some extra words hoping he would catch it. He didn't.
"I should have known that you wouldn't care."
"You know how this city works. You know the police are useless in certain aspects. This city has rotten roots that have grown too deep. Sometimes you need to work outside of the law to make a change." Tae spoke up.
"Of course, you'd say that, your technically an illegal being because of the disease you carry. You're lucky RM trusts a vampire like you or there would be no place for you here."
I mouthed the words again, discretely but staring directly at Yoongi.
I will see you later.
He was looking at me then and nodded. Good he understood.
"You can't talk about him like that!" Jimin came to Tae's defense. Not surprising.
Yoongi turned to face them and to calm them down.
"Wait... where's Yumi?"
I looked and saw that she must have left the room. Yoongi looked at me.
"You better come in soon for a check up I can tell you're functioning a bit slower then usual."
"I'll make an appointment soon" I said as they hurried out the room.
Guess I'm going to be doing a lot of research tonight....
