I was hoping Yoongi would stay a bit longer as I pretended to still be asleep. Everything felt like it was going to be OK.
When he left the apartment, I sat up. If I could help him keep this place going, then maybe I wouldn't feel so bad living here for free.
I got out of bed and got ready. I put my hair up into two high buns to keep it out of the way. I need to work and help everyone out today. I'm not a damsel in distress, I can help figure this out.
I left my apartment and went down in the elevators hoping everyone was on the first floor.
I got out and could hear all of them talking to Jin, the president's secretary. So, he did come to help us...
I entered Yoongi's office and looked around.
They all had screens and were looking through the files Jin had brought. The cyborg looked at me and gave be some files. "These are the missing persons. Look through them and let us know if you think any of them are familiar to you."
I sat on the floor and started to look through the files. I guess they thought that I might find myself, when I was human.
"See here, this is what I found that stuck out to me." Jin said to the others. "I felt like RM was funding something discreetly because of these anomalies in his expenses. I didn't think too much on it. I looked deeper and I found some files he signed off years ago."
Jin pointed at something on Yoongi's screen.
"He signed off on JK01's death but there's orders to move the body to an underground facility?" Yoongi seemed to be asking himself the question.
"Yeah which anyone could think of it being where the incinerator is, but, then a few months later he received an email that he deleted but the title says Thank you..."
Yoongi began to type away at the deleted message file and then it opened.
"Guess your hacking skills are still up to par." Jimin laughed.
Yoongi began to read the message out loud
"Thank you, RM, for allowing me to add more time to my life. This second chance you've given me will not be in vain. I will complete the task you have given me and will provide you with the perfect soldiers you need. I wont stop working until it's done. We should make time for our meetings so that I can update you on this project in person. Less of a cookie trail that way, don't you think? My sincerest thanks, Jungkook."
The four of them were silent.
"Why would RM do something like this?" Jimin broke the silence.
They all continued searching and compiled everything they found to be interesting together.
"I'll look through everything and see if maybe they'll help me decode the images Tae took." Yoongi said.
"I'll keep track of any odd behavior from RM." Jin said as he packed up his things to leave.
"We'll try to find out more about the lab Tae found. " Jimin spoke for the two of them. The three of them left leaving Yoongi and I alone.
It took me hours to stifle through each file. There were so many missing persons in this city. It amazed me. There must be something wrong for it to be this bad.
I reached the end and none of them sparked any sort of memory.
I looked up to Yoongi.
He was typing away seeming to be completely focused on decoding. He looked to be stuck on something. I walked behind his chair and looked at his screen over his shoulder.
At first the information made no sense to me and then, after about a minute of trying to understand, they all made sense.
Surprising him I put my hand delicately over his which was on his computer mouse. I moved some parts of the code re-arranging them.
I was surprised he was letting me do it. He stared at the new codes wide eyed.
"How did you figure it out so fast?"
"It just made sense to me. I'm not sure."
"Genius" he said under his breath as he got lost as he read through the code and made sense of it.
"This is something I have never seen before. If this is what you are. Your body is made for combat. And the human flesh is like a camouflage, a way for you to blend into society. A true balance of biology and technology."
"Maybe what RM wants are assassins or beings to clean up the city unnoticed." that connection just made sense to me. Yoongi nodded in agreement.
"If I know anything about him it's that his love for this city will never change. He's always working on improving it."
He looked at the screen I was using earlier.
"You didn't recognize any of them?"
"Nope..." I sat down in the chair across from him.
"We'll figure it out, don't worry." He started to look at the other images Tae took from that lab.
"Huh, I think this is the actual blueprints to your body's mechanics. How to fix you if you're hurt. Says here that your flesh heals faster then humans, making it easy to do any modifications if needed."
Maybe that info should freak me out, but I found it fascinating.
"So that would be why I don't have any scaring from the tests he made on me."
"Yeah."
He was sucked into the images and codes again. I looked around his office and looked at the mural. The library scene was quite beautiful and intricate. The more I stared the more I noticed and then I saw a man sitting and reading a book. His features pleasant and his smile calming.
"That's Hoseok..." Yoongi noticed I was looking at it. "He's beautiful." I added.
We sat in silence admiring the painting. I could sense the feeling of hope from it. I looked at Yoongi, seeing him take in the mural. He was lost in his memories as he stared. I have hope too. Hope for my future.
A thought crossed my mind then, no a feeling.
That whatever was to come, what ever we were going to find out, will change this city forever.
