Before I get on with my story, My name is Lyric. Yes like Song Lyric, or just Lyric period. I'm a Preacher's Kid. My great great grandfather who passed onto his son, the church, for generations, it's always been like a tradition, their eldest son get the church, unlike me, I turned out to be a girl.

For many years, I had to deal with consequences on being a PK. Having to wear, dress, talk, walk, anything, my parents wanted me too. I never really gotten to live my life. I'm 18 years old, I graduated, but yet I still live with my parents.

They told me, I couldn't move out of their house until I was married, and not only that.. the MAN they want me to be with. Sadly everything is being chosen for me.

Being a PK is really hard. After Church services, Bible studies, Choir rehearsals, Praise Dance, and more.

I always used to wonder if I could be really myself would I choose to be a PK? Honestly not, but if I could live my life and also be a PK, I would love that but that's not how it works apparently..

But if my parents find out I ever did anything sneaky they would kill me or mess around and have a heart attack but they'll have to find out someday. What's done in the dark comes to the light.

"Jesus didn't come to this earth to start denominations and cause division. He came so that we could become a unified body as brothers and sisters in Christ." (Quote by: Pastor John Hagee)

"And you're not really living until.." My father trailed off. "You know Jesus Christ." Everyone finished the sentence, and clapped their hands. (Another quote by Pastor John Hagee)

After Church services, some of us had to stay for choir practice. And I was one of them along with my god sister Kylie, our friend Ivy, and some other girls.

"Today's a new day, and there is no sunshine
Nothing but clouds, and it's dark in my heart
And it feels like a cold night..." I sung along with the choir, swaying side to side, reading the lyrics.

As we were practicing, I took a glimpse of the clock, checking the time. It was nowhere near the end of practice. I wished. Because I was so ready to go.

1 Hour Later...

"Alright, everyone that's a wrap on practice today." Ms. Deborah, the choir instructor said. "Thank god." I mumbled. Only Marcia heard me, cause she started laughing.

"What was that Lyric?" She asked. I cleared my throat. "Oh no I said praise god." I reassured her with a laugh, like I meant it. She laughed along with me. I grabbed my bible, books, and etc, and put it in my bag. After I did that Kylie called my name.
