The night fell as the two watched the sun set on the beach.
"Indeed. Beautiful!" Shane started. "But not as beautiful as you!" He brushed her hair from her face.
"Shane... don't be cheesy."
"I'm not. Good thing this water is salty since you're so sweet."
"Shane..." she said burying her face in his arm.
"Oh...did I upset you?"
"No." She said eyeing him. Her cheeks were red.
"You blushed! Don't tell me because of me!"
"Do you have eagle eyes? It's dark outside."
"But your face shines brighter than any star!"
"Oh my God, Shane, just shut up!"
"Make me!" He said with a smirk.
Valerie smiled before she leaned and kissed him. Shane kissed her back pulling her close.
"Shut up, Shane" Valerie told him after their lips parted.
"You wish!" Shane said embracing her
They shared some more kisses before Shane drove Valerie home. He then went straight to Robert to report him.
"DOUG LICKS HIS LIPS NOW!" Robert said.
"Fuck Doug! I've got Valerie!" Shane said.
"Yeah, but he's trying for years and you surpassed him in two weeks. He probably hates you."
"A man shouldn't hate another man over a girl. I didn't steal her. She just picked me." Shane said.
"True enough. Wait. I remembered. The company throws a party, it's an annual thing. We usually invite the Island's richest inhabitants and we do... you know... rich people stuff. Care to come?"
"It's not much night life around here so count on me." Shane agreed.
The next day Shane visited Valerie again.
"I actually wanted to drop to you to thank you for the night!" She said the second he greeted her.
"No problem. I also felt amazing. Anyways, Rob told me about some party of the riches... I didn't quite understand but I want to ask you if you want to join me."
"Surely!" Valerie said. Doug invited her in the past years but she went only twice, because people started to get the wrong impression. But with Shane, she didn't care if people thought of her as his girlfriend or not.
"Great. I'll give you details as Robert says."
Shane left.
Of course Doug wanted to invite Valerie this year too. He really thought she'd accept. He came to her house, but she didn't return from work yet.
"Don't bother. She's going with the newcomer." Bryce warned Doug.
"What, really?" Doug said. He couldn't hide his shock.
"I'm as shook as you, Douggie." Sean said appearing at the end of the staircase.
"Hey! What are you doing out of bed?" Doug said.
"Getting used to walk again... it's not that much pain."
"Take care." Doug said. You could read sadness on his face.
"I'm home! Oh, hey Doug!" Valerie said as she entered.
"Val! I was just leaving."
"Don't worry! You're no bother."
"I came to check on Sean." He lied to her. "I'm sorry but I have some business. Bye." Doug said hurrying to the door.
"I can't belive you fell for the new dude." Sean said as his mother was checking his ankle.
"Sean! Mind your business. Plus, he's so kind! Remember he helped you!"
"Yes but...ahh! Slowly!"
"I'm sorry, hun! But what?"
"What about Doug?" Sean asked with almost trebling voice.
