"Alisha, I'm fucked!" Doug called his goddaughter.
"Douglas! You done with Valeria?"
"Valerie. And no."
"Spit it out!"
"I've been to her place. She told me everything and I did what you told me. The point is she needs me and I comforted her."
"Where are you now?"
"Home. I'm grabbing some clothes and go back to her."
"You're staying overnight?!"
"Yes. And there's even more. She said she loves me."
"Oh my God, Douglas!"
"Quiet! Albert might hear you."
"Don't worry they're downstairs and there's some music so fat chance. Anyways, what did you say?"
"I said I love her too, of course. But did she really mean it, or she said it because she was upset?"
"Well... what else did she say?"
Doug repeated his conversation with Valerie.
"I will say she realized how great you are and meant it."
"Really?"
"Mainly. Anyways, don't be sad if it proves to be wrong."
"Thanks, hun. But now I've gotta go. Val's waiting, you know?"
"OK. Take care. And remember to report back tomorrow."
"I'm seeing you tomorrow, anyways."
"Do you really want to talk about that in front of all the White family?"
"Deal. I'll call you."
"Bye, Douglas!"
"Bye, favourite!"
He hung up and got ready to leave. He grabbed some clothes and left. He reached Valerie and went back to her.
"I'm back! How can I assist?" He said entering her room.
"Just stay here." She said to him pointing to the empty side of the bed, side that was never occupied by any other man than Sean and Bryce.
Doug got into the bed and Valerie cuddled closer to him.
"You're so warm!" She said.
Doug only hugged her in response. She soon fell asleep and Doug followed. He woke up in a similar position, with sun up in the sky and Valerie sleeping peacefully besides him. He slowly got up and exited the room.
"Morning!" Said Bryce from the kitchen.
"Hey! Where is Sean?"
"He left for a walk. I may also head out."
"Whatever you wish. I will wait until your mother wakes up."
"Great. I ate some leftovers but I have a strong feeling you want to cook the breakfast. You'll find everything in the fridge." Bryce said getting up.
"I'm starting to suspect you that you can read minds." Doug chuckled to the boy.
"Very funny, sir! Very funny!" He said leaving to his room.
Bryce left after a while and Doug cooked the breakfast. Valerie woke up later and found the table all set.
"Good morning, sunshine!" Doug greeted her as she went downstairs.
"Doug! You did all of these?"
"Yes. Oh, and by the way, the boys headed out."
"Yeah, they always do this." She said.
"Let's eat!" Doug helped her sit and then sat facing her. "Bon apetit!"
"Oh merci, mon petit francophone!" Valerie chuckled.
"You lost me at croissant!" Doug responded. They chuckled as they ate.
