It was evening when Doug heard a knock on his door. He sat up and answered.
"Valerie! Hey!" He said.
"Doug... I need to talk to you."
"Come in." He opened the door wide as the blonde woman entered.
"I'm sorry."
"Huh?" Doug widened his eyes.
"For today's scene. I lost it. It was so embarrassing! Thanks for saving me."
"No problem. Hey! It's ok! Val, I'm not upset. I just can't let that man step on you like a doormat any longer! Do you think I didn't want to snap his neck? You bet I did! But I couldn't. Just forget about him for now. Garret is more important."
"Garret is no longer." Said Valerie taking Doug's hand.
"Everyone is sad. But we have to move forward." Doug said. "How are the boys?"
"Sad, but they'll be fine." She stopped. "I think I'll go home now."
"I'm sorry, I can't drive you, I've had a glass of wine, but I can walk you if you want." He said.
"No, thanks. I'm going to be fine."
Valerie left home. She went to bed. At night she remembered she is going to have a baby. This thought still freaks her. She wanted to give the best for this kid. But she couldn't.
Days passed after Garret's death and funeral and little by little everything went back to normal. Cara started to help Robert around with the business and Robert started to spend more and more time with her and the kids.
"Do you want her?" Shane asked him once when they met at his house.
"Well... sounds nice. But I can't do this to Garret. I love Cara as my sister. But now that she's alone... I don't know man! Skip!"
"Skip, huh? Well, I'm kind of hungry." Shane said.
"What's in your mind?"
"I haven't eaten at Marquise in a while." Shane smiled.
"You don't think... no! Shane! You can't!" Robert said seeing his friend standing up.
"Hey! I just want a steak! It's OK, we're not going to make a scene... I hope..."
"Screw you, man!" He said. "Let's go!"
The two headed to Marquise and greeted as they entered. Valerie was there also.
"Hello." She coldly responded.
The place was quite packed. The two sat on an empty table.
"What would you like to have?" Said Valerie after a while.
"I'd like a steak and for my friend bring the vegetable soup." Shane said with his sweet smile. "And... some salt since you're so sweet" he winked.
Valerie ignored him.
"Alright. I'll be back soon."
"Man, you're not sane!" Robert whispered to Shane after Valerie left.
Shane wanted to say something but was interrupted by a hand placed over his shoulder.
"What kind of swift dick move is this?" It was Alisha White standing next to Shane.
"What's up with you here?" Shane said.
"I went out with Morgan. Anyways, what's up with you here?"
"The guy wanted a steak and now he... well... it's Shane Powell what are you expecting?" Robert smiled.
"I don't... by the way, Haylee is here too." Alisha said.
Shane turned at her in surprise.
"Don't tell me you don't know her!" Alisha looked at Shane.
