"The company? Well, he left some work behind, but I'll ask Shane, Albert and maybe Doug to help me." Robert said carelessly.
"No, I mean... you know... what he received..." Cara shyly looked away.
"Oh..." Robert realized. "That's his part. Thus, it becomes your part."
"What? We can't accept that!" Cara said.
"The company was fully mine, and I entitled him as co-founder since I didn't want to do it alone. Just keep taking the percent I gave to him. I can't use it anyways." Robert told Cara.
"But...he was your brother..."
"Yes. He was. And you are my sister in law. And Max and Simone are my nephews. I have to take care of you. After all, you're all I've left." Robert said with a sad tone.
"Rob...thanks!"
"There is really nothing to thank me for."
The next days passed slowly but eventually, Garret's funeral had to be held. The whole island was there. Theodore and his daughter, Fiona and her son, even Haylee and her so called whore friends. Not to mention Valerie, the boys, Doug, the Withes, Shane, and of course, Garret's family. The last ones were seated in the front row.
"Garret...for me...he was my everything. The hardest thing for me when I left the island was leaving him. Even though I was the older, he was definitely in charge. I know brother, you envied me. But so did I. And I still do." Robert said blinking away his tears. "Your loss has left an immense pit in my heart that can never be filled. I'm sorry and I promise to take care of your family and everything dear to you!" Robert finished his speech.
The island's most influencing men: Albert, Doug, Theodore and Shane, also held a speech each. Valerie didn't even raise her gaze during the last one. She still couldn't face Shane.
Once the ceremony was over, everyone headed to the buffet. They all spread and started chit-chatting with friends. Doug went to talk to Cara, and the boys were away so Valerie was alone. Shane coincidentally passed her.
"Hi..." he said politely. She only returned his gaze.
"It's a funeral, you know, it's not a moment to make a scene." Shane went on.
"I'm not making a scene, Shane. Just because I don't want to talk to you means that I have no respect for Garret?" Valerie said.
"I greeted only not to seem rude. I have not the envy nor the energy to start an argument with you so better mind your business." Shane coldly replied her.
"I mind my business? You were the one who took advantage of me in the first place! Have you forgotten everything? You're a bastard!" Valerie rose her voice.
"Valerie! It's not the moment now!" He grabbed her by the arm.
"Don't touch me!" She said knocking away his hand.
"You're making a scene. Stop now or I'll have to leave rudely." Shane whispered between his teeth.
"Shut up! You're the one who makes scenes! You're-"
"Shane, could you come a little? I want to introduce you to someone." Alisha, whose attention was caught by Valerie's screams broke between the two.
"No, sweetie, he can't do anything!" Valerie answered pissen off.
"Is there a problem?" Alisha asked grabbing Shane's arm.
"No. Miss Vidal just hadn't been to a formal event in a long time and doesn't exactly know how manners work." Shane said.
"Prick! I-" Valerie was cut off yet again by the teen millionaire.
"Miss, please! Keep your voice down! And don't say such words! It's rude! We're at a funeral after all! Some respect for Mr. Iverson, or at least for his family!" Alisha held the blonde's gaze.
