"So, do you intend on trapping me here to make sure I live or what's the deal?" I ask.
"Well,"Basil sighed,"If no one else, you must live, so I'm afraid that here is where we must transition from trying to save your life to..."
"Being my captors? Holding me against my will?"
"I was going to say ensuring your lively hood, but look at it however you would like." Basil shrugged, rising to his feet,"Now, how are we doing this?"
I draw my sword, Basil shrugs again and summons a sword as well, his however is longer and looks heavier. Aven sits on the ground and Basil's sword lights on fire. A whip finds itself beside Aven's head. I lash out with my sword, Basil easily deflects my attack, returning with one of his own. I parry, almost being hit. The flames on his sword jump higher with each strike, backing me into a corner. The flames drop and Aven takes Basil's place, whip in hand. He lashes out, I try to catch the end of the whip on my sword but it is far to fast.
I blink and the next thing I know Aven' s whip is coiled around my feet, he grins at me before tugging the whip, causing me to lose my balance and fall onto the ground, letting my sword fade to where ever it goes when I don't need it. Aven holds his whip so my feet stay off the ground, holding me, I try to fly but the room is to small. Basil approaches, rope in hand, I try to evade his grasp but he has more experience fighting. Once my hands are bound behind my back again they haul me to my feet.
"Is all this necessary?"
"Was that fight necessary?" Basil retorts.
"Is keeping me captive necessary?"
Basil shakes his head again,"The Desert needs you to live."
"No."
"Kara, the Desert. Before you and those from your village came, all of your kind was dead." Aven adds.
"So?"
"The Desert was going to die."
I shake my head,"Impossible."
"Fine it was becoming a post apocalyptic waste land."
Basil tugged on the rope binding my wrists,"Come on, walk and talk."
"When did you get mean?" I retort but follow all the same,"Besides if we are so important why does almost everything seem intent on killing us?"
"I don't know." Aven muttered.
"Blind fold." Basil explained as darkness settled over my eyes.
"It's like you guys don't trust me." I reply sharply.
I got no reply. I was guided down stairs, and halls a chill began to set in as we descended. Eventually the blind fold was removed and Aven opened a door, it quickly became to dark for me to see at all. More stairs, another hall, another door. I blinked at the light the room we stood in was sparsely furnished, the walls had no windows a small corner was curtained off on one side. A bed sat in the other, a table and a few chairs in the middle.
Basil unbound my hands, I rolled my wrists a bit as I looked around.
"So, the dungeons. Fun."
Basil shrugged, walking towards the farthest corner of the room. I turn around to almost walk into Aven,"Kara, stop."
"Stop what Aven?" He shook his head. Basil returns from what ever he was doing,"Can I help you?" Basil clapped an iron manacle onto my wrist,"Hey! Is this really necessary?"
"You've been asking that all day." Basil grumbled.
"Yes, because I want to know."
"Well, you have made escape attempts and attacked me, therefore precautions are taken."
"Okay," I test how far I can walk with the manacle and find I can almost reach the door,"Are you guys going to hang out with me here or will I be alone?"
"Alone most of the time. We do have other things we need to take care of." Basil replied, following Aven out the door.
"Bye." I wave to them sarcastically as the door locks into place. I walk over to the bed and flop out onto it with a sigh. So, I'm stuck. No really? I thought you could fly off into the sunset when ever you pleased. Go away. Fine... I quickly exhaust the room's lack of entertainment and waltz about the room, attempting to trigger some response.
Eventually I summon my sword, attempting to practice attacking imaginary opponents. That grows old a short time later, I sit on the floor with a sigh. No one, nothing. I am alone again, this time with nothing to do. The light in the room starts to dim, I pick up my sword and accidentally cut my arm as I return it to the sheath. I drop the blade the rest of the way into the sheath with a muttered curse. Then an idea pops into my head, I collapse back onto the bed with a grin on my face, because I am going to get out of here.*******
