Going

Another mental edge approaches on the horizon, I grow restless, feeling more caged every day.
"Who are you?" The teen asks ne, wide eyed as I stand over them.
"Kara." My sword enters and leaves their life less body before they can reply.
"See, your famous now."
"No, not really Death, that kid just wanted to know the name of their killer."
Death shrugs,"So how are you feeling?"
"Trapped."
"Why?"
"You know why. I'm stuck here, or going to be stuck here." I lean my head back against a tree.
"You say that like it's a bad thing."
"I don't like the idea of being trapped."
"You aren't, the Desert is bigger than you think it is."
"A view could stretch for miles and the horizon would always be there to stop it. To trap it. Accept that."
"I don't like that idea."
"You don't like a truth." I close my eyes for a moment as the sun peeks through the trees.
I open my eyes to a frowning Death,"Just because you see it that way doesn't make it true."
I raise one eye brow,"Yes well just because you see being bound to the Desert as a non bad thing doesn't mean that I see it the same way."
"Yes well this is our world, sorry but you have to get used to that idea eventually."
"We all interpret the world around us slightly differently, so we all live on our own planes of reality that can momentarily align and allow us to interact with one another. Or we are all products of some deranged mind. See it as you please, my point will likely be proven anyways."
Death stared at me,"Why must you be so difficult?"
"I enjoy it."
"Well that much is apparent."
I grin,"Good."

"You- you are Kara right?" The small girl asks, shivering slightly under the threat of my sword.
"Yes."
"Free me."
As she lays gasping for her final breaths,"There is little freedom to be found anywhere, not unless you are free to travel the dimensions."
"Intresting thought."
"Yes, I must say I rather like it."
"It appears to sum up your view on life recently."
I shake my head gently,"Well... yeah, kinda."
Death grins in reply.
"What?"
"You didn't argue with me."
I shrug,"We are both stubborn and I don't feel like debating."
"Fair."

Later that night...
"You are almost trapped Kara, the last bars are sliding into place on your cage." The feminine voice whispers taunting me with anything she can,"You are as good as chained, your wings as good as bound."
"Yeah I know, each day I am further bound to this place, my fame spreads like a forest fire of fear." Tears silently streak my face,"Each day I can the flames as they appear in droves, falling beneath my sword, crying for their lives. To be saved or for me to free them. Gone are my days when I could be free, my dreams are slowly finding their way from their cage, going, not yet gone."
"Soon enough Kara, going, going. Gone shall come one day, then you shall be..." she stopped speaking, as if a timer had sounded and her call was cut short. I had a feeling though that she had meant that I would belong not only to the Desert but to her.
