Hide And Seek

I hear running feet and the door slamming shut, I am mildly surprised he didn't try to end my life then and there. It wouldn't have mattered if he had, this was all ending tonight, or sooner. I pull my hair away from my face and draw my sword, stepping confidently into the silent hall way. No one stood outside the door, I decide to just walk until I find someone and to go from there.

"She knows." I hear someone whisper, I step closer to the door, listening.
"We don't have weapons though, how can we even try to fight her." I had quickly confiscated all weapons after some of them showed up.
"You can't, you are unarmed."
"Kara." The apparent leader if the meeting stood to greet me.
"Gentlemen."
"As you have pointed out we are unarmed and at your mercy, we have decided to ask you show us some mercy. At least a quick end."
I contemplate it,"Well what fun is that? How about this, just tell me if it is agreeable or not. What if we play a game? I let most of you run and hide, you fate to be decided once you are found. Is that agreeable?" They all look to each other silently,"How about this, raise you hand if you are for." No one moved,"Against?" Nothing,"Fine, this is a monarchy anyways, now you to you,"I say pointing to one if them and sweeping my arm to another, covering most of the table,"Run and hide. You have until I finish in this room. Go now." I see them out the door before sliding the bolt into the door.
"As for you boys, who wants to go first?"
"First for what?" A fool timidly questions.
"How about a quick chat?" Then death. I don't speak the last but aloud.
"Sure." He trots up to me,"Nope." I swing my sword and lop off his head in one swift motion.
"Any one else?"
"No." Everyone who spoke was killed quickly, ending in a merciful manner, per request. Eventually the room was full if bodies and the area they had all been in was coated in blood, but not to much, I was rather thankful for the wooden flooring of the room.
I then wandered from room to room, looking for them, eventually I find almost all of the group I had dismissed hidding in alcove after alcove on a stone stair case. Their end to is quick. I decide to just end this insane competition and go where I know people will be, blood coats my sword and drips onto my hands Come out come our where ever you are. I think to myself, amused by the twisted game. I go from room to room, at trail if blood follows me everywhere, tracking me, marking me its own.
"Kara? Kara! What are you doing?" I hear the scream. "Kara let me out!" Chance? "Kara!" I wander into the dungeons, silently counting up the recent dead.
In the dungeon Chance lies on his cot, beside his cell stands the first person to have participated in this contest, and the last. All of the others dead, not yet buried,"Kara." He stayed my name cooly, hidden messages and meanings dancing on his voice and in his mouth.
"Yes?"
"Realease him."
"Why should I?" I ask, stalking towards him, blood, not my own still dripping from me.
"Because I said so Kara, and I have won."
"What have you won? And what makes you think you have won it?"
"Your little game." He replies, spreading his arms with a grin,"I am the last man standing, therefore I win. Now release him."
"You haven't won anything." I hiss stepping forwards.
"Haven't I?" He raises one eyebrow snapping his fingers, Chance suddenly sits bolt up right.
"What are you doing?"
He grinned at me,"Making you declare me the winner?"
"How?" I ask, apprehension creeping into my voice.
"Have I yet properly introduced myself madam? I don't think that I have. Well let this be it then. I am..."
"No! Kara don't listen to him!" Chance suddenly shouts at me.
"What Chance? What is going on?"
"I am afraid he cannot tell you that my dear."
"What? Why?"
"Because I said so. Now declare me winner. Did we ever fully establish what my position would be? No, well I would love to be king, perhaps you can be some kind of servant."
"Why should I?"
"Because I said so." He grinned,"After all, you must do as Simon says."
