Next morning he told me he had some things to do before heading over to see Mia. I took advantage because I haven't been feeling all too good lately so before stopping in to see her I stopped and spoke to one of the doctors who said I should be fine around the baby. According to him it was all of the stress from helping Mia but sent some extra labs to be done.

"Hey, look who's here! It's . . ."

"Madrina, madrina is here." I told her, moving into the room.

"Ok, look Jack, it's your madrina." Mia said softly.

"Did the doctor see you yet? When can you go home?" I asked.

"Brian went home to get the car seat, I get to go home as soon as he gets back. You're going to stay with me right, the first few days?" she asked.

"Of course, Dom will be here soon enough and he's got the bag with our clothes."

"Bag? Just one? For both of you? How long do you plan on staying with us?"

"A few days, why?"

"No, at least two weeks." she argued.

"Mia, you do realize that we live very close to each other right?"

"Yes but it's not the same thing as being in my house."

"I'll help you as much as you need but we'll only be in your house for a few days Mimi. It's only fair to everyone."

"I don't like it." she pouted.

"I'll be over bright and early to help you with whatever you need."

"Ok, I just want to get out of here. Hold Jack please so I can change my clothes." she said, holding the baby up for me.

"Hello sweetie, muñeco bello de madrina. Te voy a dar todo el amor del mundo, todo el que tenga en mi corazón será para ti."

I heard Mia getting up off of the bed so I started to sway back and forth while singing a lullaby that I picked up from my own madrina. He just looked up at me, scrunching his nose and closing his eyes because of the sudden light so I made my way to the center of the room again, finding shade for him.

"Look who's baby smart." Mia said.

"Picked a few things up here and there. He really is the most adorable little boy ever." I told her.

"He is, I never knew you know."

"Knew what?"

"Before I met Brian I was ok with being single, Vince and I, it was never going to happen. Then I met Brian and we lost each other for some time but we found each other again, sort of similar to you and Dom. I never knew that I could love someone so much, that I had so much love in me to give someone else. At first Brian made me realize that but then I found out I was pregnant and Jack was born. The first time I laid eyes on him was like a burst of light and I realized that I had so much more to give, that I want to be so much more for him." she said.

"It's amazing the things that other people can make you find out about yourself." I replied, swaying back and forth.

"You're a natural." she said.

"What?"

"You're a natural with him, who would've known. When the time comes I'm sure that you'll be an amazing mother."

"I don't think that time will come Mimi."

"Why not?"

"I'm pretty sure that we lost our chance, not everyone gets the family and the white picket fence."
