Let's Take A Little Ride

Chapter 25 ✔️

"Mia, we're all on our way back." I said, as soon as we were off.

"All of you?" she asked.

"We're all here." Dom replied.

"You're an idiot." I told him, looking out of the window.

"I had to do it."

"You could've just cut loose! You didn't have to do it, you didn't have to take care of Reyes." I argued.

"Reyes would've still been able to come after us."

"Taking him out was never a part of this job. It's not what we do, we know damn well how to take care of ourselves if something like that had happened." I growled.

"It was something that I had to do Kaylee."

"You're an idiot! Why do you keep doing this to me? This just keeps happening, we give this another go and you're way too more than willing to give it all up. Do I mean anything to you? Does any of this mean anything?" I asked.

"Of course it does! I love you Kaylee, more than I have a right to given what's happened between us in the past. I had to get rid of him while he still presented a threat to my family. I couldn't let him live knowing that he could take you away from me."

"It was stupid, very stupid, had Brian or I not shown up I would have . . . I could have lost you damn it." I argued, choking back my tears.

"I had to take care of my family, as long as he was alive you all were in danger. That is something that I could not allow." he said, taking my hand in his and kissing my knuckles.

"Stupid idiot. You know very well that we can take care of ourselves."

"I'm your idiot." he said, putting his hand on my thigh.

"That you are amor, mi idiota." I replied, trying to calm down.

I know why he did it and if I'm being honest I can admit to myself that I knew he would do this when he told me what Reyes said about us. I just wish that he hadn't put himself in such danger, I don't want to lose him again when we're just getting started.

When we got back Mia launched herself onto her brother, berating him for being stupid. Her tears falling like a river down her cheeks. Dom just pulled her into his arms and let her cry it out on his shoulder.

"Alright Tej, crack that safe." Dom said over Mia's head.

Everyone sat there in silence, watching Tej work his magic for a few minutes. I was standing in front of Dom after Mia made her way to Brian and he had his hands around my waist. After a few minutes we heard something, some random beep and everyone was at attention. I moved away from Dom, unconsciously moving closer to the vault as Tej let out a deep breath.

"Come on baby, don't be mean." Tej muttered as he put the sheet with Reyes' handprint down.

Pressing his hand over the scanned sheet it beeped again, another weird sound emitting from the vault. He grabbed onto the latch and with a small smile pulled the vault door open. The money started to just fall out and everyone was going crazy. I ran back into Dom's arms pressing a quick kiss to his lips. My sisters ran up to me and we hugged each other, shouting in excitement.

"Mia, count it." Dom said with a big smile.

I walked over to the love of my life with my own huge smile. It's over; this stressful shitshow is over and now we get to live our lives in peace.

"We did it." I said as he pulled me into his lap.

"Did you ever doubt that we would?" he asked.
