"You guys go ahead." Dom said, looking at the door.
"No, babe, come on I'm not leaving without you." I argued.
"Babe go, I'll meet you at the end of the way. I'm gonna distract them and give you a head start." he insisted.
"Come on. We've gotta go." Brian said.
"Be careful." I told him.
"Love you." he said, giving me a quick peck on the lips before moving away.
With a look over my shoulder I followed Mia and Brian, we jumped over a stone wall in the room but not before the guys came in. They caught Brian jumping over the wall and started shooting at us crazily. I looked back once more before Mia grabbed my hand and pulled me down the little alleyway.
We got a bit of a headstart but not enough. As we ran through houses more and more of Reyes' men found us along the way. Running between the favelas in this kind of situation was not fun at all. Bullets echoed and ricocheted all around us. Brian, he was taking the majority of the hits since he refused to let me help.
I wasn't completely here anyway and that made me fall behind. Worry was taking over, worry for us and most of all worry for Dom. I have no way of knowing what's happening to him and that scares the hell out of me. My lagging behind caught up to me when we were running and one of Reyes' guys caught me by my ankle while I was going up some steps, making me fall.
After a shriek of surprise I kicked his head as hard as I could making the guy fall back. I jumped off of the stairs and punched him, slamming my fist into a set of metal windows. Brian grabbed my arm and pulled me away, after that I did my best to keep up. I don't want to put myself in that kind of situation again, I can't.
"Don't say a word to Dom." I told him.
"Alright but move." Brian insisted.
We kept running, avoiding Reyes' men at all cost until we couldn't run anymore. Mia and I were in front and we had to make a rapid stop before going over the sudden ledge. By the time Brian arrived I was going into almost full blown panic mode.
"Let's go." Brian said, holding onto both of our hands.
"I can't." I stuttered.
"Come on Kaylee, now I'm not leaving you behind." Brian argued.
"Brian I can't, I'll figure it out." I said.
"Dom'll kill me if I leave you behind and I'm not leaving you damn it! We've got this, just roll it out. Kay, just roll it out." Brian said.
"Kaylee we've gotta go." Mia pleaded.
"I . . . fine."
Squeezing Brian's hand tighter we ran off of the room and fell onto the metal scraps that was the roof of the garage a few stories below us. I'm pretty sure that I messed up my shoulder more than a bit but it wasn't too bad so I just shrugged it off, well I tried to anyway.
"Come on, follow me." Brian said.
We walked down this little stream and kept walking until we met up with Dom. He wrapped his arms around me and squeezed before kissing my head. We kept walking for a while and my shoulder was twinging a little but I didn't want to mention it.
"What's wrong with you?" Dom asked when we got out of the tunnel.
"Nothing."
"Kay?"
"Worried about our situation." I answered, not entirely lying.
"Right, they're gonna be looking for the four of us together now. We need to split up. Brian, you Mia and Kay head south. I'll lead them away." Dom said.
