8 Years Later
Alicia POVToday was my first day of high school and I was honestly excited and nervous at the same time. Fifteen year old me(in M/M) rocked a sew in for the first few days of school as well as my new Foam Posits.
I really hoped that this time would not be like the last time I tried to enroll into a real school. I've been homeschooled my whole life so when I got to middle school, my parents told me I could start in a real school. My dream of being in a real school was quickly crushed by the school bully that I didn't even know existed.
Flashback:
I got out of the car with my book bag on my back and my lunch box in my hand. Today was free dress day for a dollar so all of the kids were dressed down in something other than a uniform.I walked into the school and to my first class of the day. Sixth grade was going pretty well for me so far and I was liking the scenery. Everyone seemed so welcoming and nice to me.
I pushed my mask up on my face and sat down in my chair at the table I was assigned in science class. This was my favorite class so of course, I felt like I was doing good in that class. The day was going by smoothly until recess.
I had no friends so usually, I sat by myself with a book from the library. Seldom, I played with the other kids. Only when the teachers forced the kids to interact. Because I used to be homeschooled, I was used to being alone so it didn't bother me.
I pulled out a new book I started on Thursday, Dork Diaries: Tales From a Not-So-Fabulous Life. I was only on page four at the moment but the way my eyes flew across the page, I was on the next segment of the book in no time. I felt like I could relate to the main character, Nikki Maxwell. She had a bratty little sister Brianna, while I had not one but two bratty little sisters, Angel and Ahjanika. She had little to no friends while I had none at all and her parents were silly lunatics much like mine.
My finger rested between the current page and the next page, ready to turn when a voice interrupted me.
"What're you reading nerd?"Someone asked, hovering over me. I looked up to see three girls standing over me. I shoved a heavy gulp down my throat.
"Dork Diaries."I responded.
"What? I can't hear you over that mask."The middle one said. She reached down and before I knew it, my only protection had been ripped from me. My mask. It hung from her hand. I reached up to grab it but she handed it to the girl on the left. I'm guessing that girl was her friend.
"Dispose of this silly thing."The middle one told the girl on the left. "No, I need that,"I spoke up, closing my book.
"Just like I need those huaraches on your feet."The girl shot back.
"What? You don't need my shoes, you have your own shoes on your feet."I referred back to her high top converse. "I don't want my shoes, I want yours."She stated.
"But why? Tell your mom to buy you some."I suggested.
"Listen jerk, hand over the shoes. We can do this the nice way or we can do it my way."The three girls started to crack their knuckles in sync. First I lose my mask, now I'm about to lose my shoes.
I had no time to put my book away or get my phone from my bag to call my mom before the three girls came closer, closing me in. The last thing I remember was my head flying back onto the schools brick wall. It wasn't hard enough to knock me out but it was hard enough to where I knew that a bruise would show up soon. I felt them shaking the shoes off of my feet while the other stared down at me.
