"How's school my little weirdo?" My mom asked me, handing me a plate of waffles.
I looked at her sideways since she never was too interested in my school life "Fine"
"Listen Kayc, I found a possibility for you to be homeschooled again" my fork fell on the floor with a clatter. How could I have forgotten?
"Do I get a choice in this?"
"If you did, what would it be?"
"To stay in my current school!" I replied without hesitation.
"Kaycee you don't understand-"
"I do understand! I understand that I'm the one who has to learn so I should also have the choice" my stool legs screeched across the floor nearly falling over as I stormed up to my room to pick up my book bag.
On my way out I added "Besides, think about all the opportunities" before slamming the door shut, completely forgetting that my mom had offered to drive me to school.
With a glum look on my face I let my legs lead the way still thinking of how I got so attached to this lifestyle and then I remembered...
"Why does my favourite weirdo look so down?"
...it was my friends.
Feeling Sean's arm around me gave me the comfort that I needed in that moment.
"Nothing" I sighed laying my head on his shoulder.
"I don't take no for an answer so you will have to tell me sooner or later!" He smiled down at me pulling me closer into his side in turn making me giggle feeling an odd kind of burn in the pit of my stomach.
Upon entering the school we were immediately ambushed by Tahani, Tati, Gabe and Will.
"Woah! Slow down guys"
"Ok if you two can't keep up we'll translate" Will told the two of us slightly annoyed. "Tricia is still not here and to appologise she gave us free tickets to the lazer tag place down the road" his mood peeked at the last words making him practically bounce out of his shoes.
We all gushed over how cool the opportunity was until Sean came out with a good question on a matter that had completely slipped my mind.
"What about the others? Where are they at?" He said looking around for our remaining friends.
"Oh, they all have an exam! Those losers" Gabe laughed, urging us all down the road. "Nevermind them, we have a whole Lazer Tag zone booked for just the 6 of us!"Third person P.O.V
The six friends had about a fifteen minute walk from their school. Four of the six were clearly attracted to one another, well, at least it was clear to everyone but them.
Tati and Gabe were playfighting in the front of the group with Will there to cheer Gabe on, Tahani doing the same for Tati. The remaining two were tugging behind having their own conversation.
"So are you gonna tell me what's wrong?" Sean nudged Kaycee with his elbow.
"No"
"I told you earlier that I didn't take no for an answer right..."
Getting suspicious Kaycee looked up at him, noticing that he had an odd grin plastered on his face.
"Yeah?" She answered unsurely.
"So am I gonna have to force the answer out of you?" Kaycee's eyes went wide as she started to back away from Sean.
"Is that a yes?" His wide grin scared Kaycee to the point where she started running forwards to catch up with the others, Sean was hot on her heels.
When she saw him catching up she let out a small yelp, allerting the others of her presence.
"Okay there Kayc?"Will asked ammused, having obviously cought up with what was going on.
"Not if I stay here!" She shouted speeding past them with Sean only seconds later.
The group laughed at the two with Gabe and Tati now being the ones to cheer them on.
"Come on Sean!"
"You can do it KC"
"Watch out he's right behind you!" Following Tahani's words, Sean grabbed Kaycee by the waist, lifting her off the ground. She screeched once again as Sean held her up with one arm and tickled her exposed waist.
Between the laughter and Sean's interrogations, no one from the group noticed a head of blonde hair poke out from behind one of the larger trees.
Finally Kaycee managed to break free from Sean, sprinting all the way to the doors of Lazer Space.
"Oh, you must be the kids Tricia Miranda had booked the place for!" Exclaimed the receptionist as the group barged through the doors.
"Your gear is on the bench, when you're ready could you walk through the left doors and think of team names while you're here" she spoke hurriedly, running off into the door that she told the group to walk through.
"So groups?" Tati asked pulling on the black costume.
"Easy, boys vs girls!" Gabe replied quickly the boys just as quick to agree.
"Sure!" The girls said at the same time scaring not only themselves but the boys too.
After listening to the rules the game began. The boys tried to cheat but were cought giving the girls a straight win. The games went on for a while with the girls winning as the boys weren't too good at hiding but then the group decided to change up the teams.
There were now three with Kaycee and Will being one, Tati and Sean and finally Tahani and Gabe.
Mid-game the group heard a loud bang of the door but brushed it off as a worker.
Kaycee was now getting ready to run out from her hiding point when she was tackled to the floor by Sean, seconds before a bullet shot through where she was standing before.
A muffled scream was concealed by Sean's hand as several similar ones were heard over the play area.
"Come out! I know you're here..." it was a girl's voice speaking.
Sean pulled Kaycee up as the two clambered to the nearest hiding spot.
Three more shots went through nearby walls and they were nearing the two.
Kaycee was sobbing into Sean's hand now "Shh, KC it's an air pistol, she's already used most of the bullets" those words did little to calm the girl down only telling her that if she was to be shot, there would be more chances of her surviving.
The hope vanished as the figure turned the corner, comming into their view.
