"But mom!"
"Kaycee, I don't know this boy! You aren't going to his party, not today!" with the final words Kaycee's mom returned to her cooking leaving a very frustrated Kaycee to stand in the hallway.
"Fine!" she yelled stomping her way upstairs, making sure that her mom heard every step. The door of her room slammed behind her as the girl threw herself at the bed.
"Not fair!" she whined sending the news to the group chat and locking her phone.
Within seconds she received a call from that same groupchat.
"You can't not go!" Tati's loud voice rang from the phone.
"Yeah it's your first school party, you have to!"
"I know Hani but I can't unless I want to be grounded for weeks" Kaycee groaned burrying her head in a pillow.
"How about you sneak out?"
"What?"
"Just sneak out" Sean continued.
The call was silent for a moment before everybody began agreeing with the boy.
"I might but how..." in reality, the idea of sneaking out interested Kaycee a lot, maybe slightly too much.
"You need help?" Sean asked as everyone was already making plans of getting Kaycee out through the chimney.
"Sure, I can get down from the ledge outside my window but it's a bit high"
"Be there at eight" after these words Sean left the chat, the girl followed his suit leaving the others confused.
Kaycee went for the classic idea of getting dressed and pretending to sleep by laying under her covers.
All went well, Kaycee's mom leaving Kaycee be since the girl reffused to respond to her mother's good night wishes. At exactly eight Kaycee jumped from underneath her covers as quietly as possible trying to contain her excitement. She flung the window wide open, peeking at the window on the other side where her parents bedroom was placed. It was dark.
"You planning on sitting there all night?" A hoarse whisper startled Kaycee nearly making her topple over the edge of the window.
"Jeez Sean!" she mumbled holding onto her chest "you scared the life out of me!" Suppressing a laugh Sean put his arms out motioning for Kaycee to hurry since the party started in half an hour.
After swinging her legs over the edge of the window, Kaycee jumped down to the roof above the front door turning back to prop the window open for her to get back in.
"Come on jump, I'll catch you" Sean came closer to the roof where Kaycee was now sitting. It wasn't too high of the ground but a free jump would still likely end in a few broken bones.
Sean saw the dilema on the girl's face, and touched her leg in reassurance "Promise"
Before Kaycee could realise that she had umped, two strong arms had caught her at the sides. On instinct Kaycee's legs hooked around Sean's waist leaving the two teens in a rather compromising position.
"Let's go " Sean breathed noticing a dim light in the window by Kaycee's. The two dove behind the bush laughing and unaware of two figures standing in the window.
Kaycee's P.O.V.
Sean and I ended up having to run a few blocks to get to the party on time and it was definintely worth it. Julian's house was filled with teens of all ages, some that I've seen in the odd classes that I take and others being complete strangers. The front door was swung wide open, music blasting from inside and red cups thrown all over.
"There you two are!" Julian's voice shoutedfrom behind us, the boy comming over giving me a side hug and doing their handshake with Sean.
"What took you so long?"
I looked at Sean to see him sending me a goofy grin "Long story"
"Oooh I see" Julian wiggled his eyebrows at us before we were pushed inside the house.
"Kaycee!" instantly my bones were crushed by various pairs of arms and squeals filled my ears. "You got here!"
"Hi guys. Yeah thanks to Mr Lew I managed to escape" I motioned to Sean who came to stand beside me, putting his elbow on my shoulder.
"Hey girls, where are the others?" he asked looking around at the crowds. Where were they?
"Oh they're outside by the pool" Tati motioned for the back door. Sean saluted the six of us before heading for that direction.
Slowly we were all pulled to different areas of the party allowing me to meet some new people like Lexee and Nat, who too were dancers. On my way to the drinks table someone bumped into my back nearly sending me flying to the floor.
"Oh sorry, my bad I didn't mean to do that" I turned around locking eyes with a tall curly haired boy I had never seen before.
"It's fine" I quickly brushed it of realising that staring at someone you've never seen, wouldn't give the best first impression. He however, didn't come to the same conclusion as he kept his intent stare on me as minutes passed.
"Yeah, um, what's your name?" I feel like that came out slightly awkward but really I would do anything to get thisboy to stop staring, even if he may be a bit cut- wake up Kaycee!
He shook his head coming back from his dream " ' xcuse my manners, Jack Oliver" his voice had an odd British tint to it along with the royal class manners.
"Kaycee, Kaycee Rice. I 've never seen you before?" What? Is there a better way to subtly ask someone where they're from?
"I'm a transfer from Britain. I go to Cali High"
"Me too"
"Do you? By any chance do you know a lad named Sean? He invited me here when we met a couple of days ago" he scratched his neck awkwardly looking around for Sean.
"Sounds like him" I chuckled, apparently too loud since Jack turned to look at me weirdly.
The night went by slowly, Jack and I becoming closer by the second. We've wandered around to the pool and the improv dance floor, currently walking upstairs to the quieter halls.
"It's not too bad, just the teachers..." I slowly turned to look at Jack , feeling his eyes burn through my skin. "You alright?"
Out of nowhere he grabbed my waist, pushing me into the nearest wall. All kinds of thoughts went through my mind ranging from fear of him hitting me to complete regret at leaving alone with boy I had barely known for three hours.
"...Kaycee..." Why is he doing this? His hot breath hit my skin, and instead of intensifying passion it only deepened my fear.
Despite all this, I couldn't say a word. Shock and confusion swallowed up my mind leaving me gaping like a fish while the new boy pressed his lips on my neck.
Gently, his hand turned my face towards his, a finger tracing my bottom lip. His eyes stared longingly at my lips, hands still pinning me to the wall when he started to lean down.
Seconds before his lips met mine I felt the bubble in my throat disappear but it was too late...
....he'd kissed me....
....I had lost my first kiss to a guy I met at a party....
