"Kay please come downstairs!" Kaycee's mom had been trying to get her daughter out of her room for around 30 minutes now, all attempts in vain as Kaycee was too stubborn to back down.
"Mom, I can do my school work later! It's not like I need to get to school on time anyway!" Kaycee responded emphasising the later part in attempt to make a statement to her mother.
"Kaycee you're going to school!" After these words Mrs Rice heard a crash from upstairs. Kaycee came sprinting down the staircase with a look that screamed both shock and confusion.
"What?" She said lowly, still out of breath.
"You're going back to school Kayc" said Kaycee's mom with defeat.
"Why?"
"I thought about it and-" Kaycee interrupted her mom's explanation with a blunt "Don't lie to me, I know when you do"
"Yesterday, a boy came to our house after you went to your room. He begged me to let you stay in school and I just can't say no! He looked so heart broken!" Without caring to comfort her mother Kaycee continued the questions.
"Who?" Forgetting that she had only told one person of her school troubles.
"A boy named Sean"
"Sean..." Kaycee mumbled quietly "Thanks mom" she said before rushing off to get her school bag.
Her mom was still in the kitchen when Kaycee sped by without so much as a glance in her direction.
Fueled by the the butterflies in her stomach, the young girl ran all the way to the school, not a bad thing since she was slightly late too.
Not caring about the crowds of curious onlookers, she sped her way to the dance studio. It being a Thursday, quite a few students were around the studio, either taking pictures with the dancers or waiting for their first period to begin.
Upon seeing the familiar boy, Kaycee's smile grew wider and she ran straight to him. To her luck he noticed her running, therefore was prepared to catch her when she jumped to hug him.
Both of them wrapped their arms around one another, Kaycee still being held up by Sean as her height didn't let her reach the floor. People began to stare at the two teens who had their heads on one another's shoulders. Some began to take pictures while others, including the dance team cooed and made kissing noises at the two.
"Thank you" Kaycee whispered only loud enough for Sean to hear.
"Thank you to you KC" he replied just as quietly.
The two friends stood there for a couple more minutes before the bell rang, signalling for them to part.
Upon walking into the studio, both Kaycee and Sean were being interrogated by their friends but both reffused to give an explanation.
In the studio stood a woman in her late fortys, smiling at them while they walked in.
"Ok kids, you know how I told you about a surprise a couple of weeks ago?" Tricia asked when all the dancers were lined up, all of them nodding in responce.
"So you will all be getting vocal lessons!" The girls were squealing but the boys didn't look so excited.
"So this week we got a DanceOn request to film a music video" this got everyone even more hyped "but I only want the boys".
Girls were beyond confused now. Aren't they supposed to be a team?
"Just, the boys?" Char asked lifting an eyebrow at the smiling Tricia.
"Yes girls, you will do a week of voice lessons with Cassandra here" she said pointing to the woman beside her. "This week is about independence and individuality so I want you to be separate"
"Oh, okay?" Kaycee replied unsurely.
"Of you go girls!" The five followed Cassandra to a music room down the hallway, chatting on the way.
"Anybody else find it strange that it's only the boys doing the video?" Tati whispered so that their new teacher wouldn't hear.
"Yeah, I know! Tricia is bringing in a choreographer so that doesn't sound too independent!" Tahani replied a bit too loud as Cassandra turned to look at them strangely.
"Well maybe we will do something like that next week?" Kaycee said lightheartedly, still feeling the rush of happiness from earlier.
Bailey looked at her with a grin "So are you gonna tell us what's going on between you and Mr Lew?" She asked wriggling her eyebrows. Kaycee's cheeks warmed up involunterily but she was saved from answering by Cassandra rushing them into a small acoustic room with six chairs and a piano.
"Go ahead and sit down girls!" Cassandra's voice was sweet yet strict at the same time. "Okay we will start with a little warm up and voice development".
For about twenty minutes the girls were working on singing speciffic notes while the boys hadn't done much more than meet their choreographer.
"Hello boys I'm Alexander Chung and I will be teaching you the choreo for 'What's the move?' but before we start I would like to get to know you" he began pointing to each of the boys asking for their names and favourite styles of dance.
"So we have a month to prepare everything and practice on location and I can promise you boys, this video will make you stars" Alex's exaggeration was exactly what had sparked the boys' attention as from that moment on, fame was all they worked for.
They just forgot to include some very significant people in their plan...
