"Hey Kayc, I need your help..."
"Sure thing, what is it Ken?"
... November 27th ...
"It's kind of weird to think that we won't be back here for like three months." Tahani along with Kaycee and Tati were making their way to the dance studio through the empty school halls. They just finished their last minute check of the tour necessities and had found some time to attend one more class with Tricia before their departure that evening.
"I know Hani, but we're weird so it's fine!" the two girls laughed as Kaycee skipped ahead of them, doing random moves to whatever song played in her headphones.
"Positivity" Tati laughed when Kaycee nodded, pointing to the word printed on her top.
When the trio got to the studio loud music was blasting, probably due to the upbeat warm up going on inside.
Tahani put a finger to her lips and slowly opened the door, attempting to creep in unnoticed. Her friends followed her in but as Kaycee looked at the mirror she made eye contact with Sean, who immediately started laughing.
Tricia turned off the music, looking weirdly at Sean along with the rest of the teens. Their confusion vanished when they heard the familliar laugh of the weirdo behind them.
"I swear they have some kind of telepathy." Will said with raised eyebrows.
"Telepathy or not, they did ruin the prank." Tahani dropped to sit beside Will with a displeased look on her face.
"Ok, ok, enough of that, you two calm down and sit. I'm glad you made it girls." Tricia smiled. "Now munchies, today we will do a different kind of class but before that, I want you to go stretch out with your partners."
Everybody scurried away to their own spots, helping one another stretch, well most of them anyway...
While Char, Josh, Tati and Gabe were getting on, Will and Tahani were whispering to one another in hushed voices, stealing glances at Kaycee and Sean who were goofing around as usual. The only odd pair seemed to be Bailey and Ken who looked sort of awkward, not saying a word as they each did their own thing.
"Wait, wait, wait, now try to slide over onto your stomach." Sean kicked his legs over from the back bend and flopped on the floor in a fit of laughter. He tickled Kaycee's arm as her hold gave away and the two ended up laying on their stomachs making fun of each other's laughter.
"Gather round, you all seem ready"
"Yeah especially Seaycee." Josh said to the group quietly, Kaycee and Sean were now belly sliding to the mirror.
"What are we laughing at?"
Josh looked at Sean with a grin "Giiiiit!"
Sean threw his head back laughing as Tricia came to sit by the mirror.
"So kiddos, I will teach you a dance but for some of the parts you will have choices, like jumping or falling to the floor." The squad looked confused, there must be a catch?
The choreo to Questions by Chris Brown was a mix of super fast hip hop and contemporary. Contempop?
"So last part, you either arch back with arms up or you throw your arms back and push your chest out." the teens practiced both versions and tryed the routine full out as the version that Tricia chose.
All ten went to get themselves drinks, boys wiping their faces with their shirts while a few of the girls decided to change their hoodies to lighter tops.
"I bet you all waited for a catch?" Everyone looked at the smirking Tricia. "You will perform this dance back to back with your partners."
Kaycee went wide eyed "But what if we-"
"That's the point Kayc. This will test your chemistry and how well you know each other. Now girls that side, boys on the other, you aren't allowed to tell each other which version of the dance you are doing, just have to guess and hope you don't end up kicking them or the other way around." Tricia chuckled at how hesitantly the team split up to their sides.
"Okay, I'm filming so you can watch your own dances and possible fails."
"Hey!"
"Thanks for volunteering Will, you and Tahani up first." the squad laughed at Will's misfortune, Tahani playfully punching his shoulder.
Even though the two weren't as close they still did pretty well, only head butting each other on the arch back part. Will was leaning on Tahani's shoulder as the two laughed it of.
Char and Josh had more luck as to not hit themselves but there wasn't much of the chemistry connection between them which the dance needed.
"Gati, you're up!" These two had great chemistry for sure but with Gabe's style being so fast, they had quite a few collisions.
Now when it came to Ken and Bailey's turn it was clear that something was going on, there was no connection and they ended up tripping over on the jump turn part.
"What's up with you two?" Tricia asked concerned.
Ken just waved her of with a small nothing.
"Ooookay" Tricia said unsurely "last we have Kaycee and Sean" at this everybody cheered, expecting the two to perform perfectly since they had been dancing together a lot lately.
The two came out fist bumping each other "Don't kick me."
"I would expect that to be you." Kaycee countered. They stood back to back waiting for the song to come on.
Just as it did, it was like everyone disappeared. Like magic they knew what move they were doing, making the piece look like it was choreographed that way.
But it was all about chemistry, oddly enough, Kaycee and Sean had a goofy, friendly kind of chemistry, smiling and pulling faces whenever they were turned towards each other.
The last arch that the others struggled with, Kaycee and Sean executed in a way where their arms unintentionally liked. It would have been a great pose to end on, if not for the fact that Sean pushed his chest out a bit too much, stumbling forwards and dragging Kaycee with him.
"How do you do that?" Tati asked. Kaycee just shrugged, giggling.
"Good job, have a break" Kaycee sighedin relief and followed the girls to their corner.
After about five minutes all of the boys got up and headed out without a word.
"Kenneth seems weird today" Bailey said turning away from the closed door.
"Yeah, I saw it when you two were dancing" Char added with furrowed brows.
"You should talk to him. Look at Sean and Kaycee, they spoke and now are better than ever."
"Easy to say Tot" the four girls turned to look at Kaycee who was staring at her phone with raised eyebrows.
"Hey Kayc, you okay, did you hear us?" Bailey asked concerned.
Kaycee shook her head to get back to reality.
"Have any of you heard of Ken's girlfriend?"
