Not what I expected ...

Mirror in the dark

"W-what?" Bailey stuttered.

"Look, he just tweeted 'cooking up a surprise for my baby girl in the sports hall'." Kaycee read from her phone before showing the others. Bailey sat gaping, not having a clue what to say to the news. What was all the flirting about then?

"She must be in this school, right?" the girls looked at Tahani questioningly. "Well, if it's in the sports hall then she can't be an outsider." Tati and Char nodded along while Kaycee kept swiping on her phone screen.

"He tweeted it just now so the boys must be with him." Kaycee looked up to see all her friends sharing wicked grins. "What?" she raised an eyebrow.

"You know what this means girls?"

"Oh no..."

...5 minutes later...

"Are we seriously doing this?"

"Shhh!" Kaycee rolled her eyes, creeping behind the rest of the girls towards the doors of the sports hall. When they eventually ended up in front of the doors, something didn't feel right.

"Why aren't the lights switched on?" Bailey wondered aloud, feeling slightly skeptic about walking in.

"Come on guys, you dragged me all the way here just to look at the doors?" before any of them had a chance to answer, Kaycee had pushed them all through the door into the darkness.

"Ugh, Kaycee!" Bailey grunted, turning around to scold the girl, only to find that none of them were there.

Panicked, she stumbled back, looking around the room wide eyed. The lihts remained off making it hard for Bailey to find her way around.

"Bailey!" Kaycee's voice freaked Bailey out to the point where she screamed, turning around to face the direction where the voice came from.

"Kaycee! Kayc, are you okay?" Bailey slowly walked closer when suddenly the room was lit up by a light blue glow. Bailey looked around until a ginormous mirror came into her view. In it she saw herself, obviously, but what made her gast was the sign reflected above her.

'Bailey, will you be my girlfriend?' was spelled in cursive letters on the banner, just as she read it, she saw Kenneth emerge from behind her with a bouquet of flowers making her spin on the spot to face him.

"Will you?" he whispered.

Tears were pooling around her eyes as the girl threw herself at Ken. "Of course!" Ken quickly wrapped his arms around her waist, grinning broadly as they stood rocking on the spot.

"How did you do this?" asked Bailey when Ken had let go of her, motioning to the decorations around the room.

Ken scratched the back of his neck "Umm, I guess it's all about teamwork."

Just then, Char, Josh, Tati, Gabe, Tahani and Will emerged from underneath the bleachers, the girls repeatedly hitting the boys.

"Wait you knew about this?"

"Does it look like we did?" Tahani asked hitting Will once more. Bailey turned back to Ken confused, who only nodded towards where the mirror stood. From behind it walked ou Kaycee and Sean, the former cowering behind the boy.

"Kaycee!" the girls exclaimed in unison.

"Yeah, she came up with the plan. "

"I'm scared to say anything cause I feel like you guys will murder me!" Kaycee said from behind Sean making all the boys laugh.

"Kaycee?" Tahani asked slowly.

"Okay I helped them because I knew they would either be too obvious or come up with something like putting a note in your lunch, on which you would eventually choke." the girls all agreed but the boys had all put on offended looks. All except Sean.

"To be fair it was our initial idea." it was now the girls' turn to laugh .

Bailey looked around at all her friends teary eyed. "Guys!" she exclaimed before bringing them all into a hug. "Thank you!"

"The only person you should be thanking is your prince."

Kenneth hugged Bailey tightly, hoping to share his joy with her. The couple was overwhelmed at the whole ordeal, both wishing to remember the beautiful moment for the rest of their lives. Kenneth's nervousness and fear of rejection all turned into pure happiness as he held the girl he had liked for a while now in his arms. His arms gave Bailey the comfort she needed after the breakdown she had mentally, after hearing of Ken's 'girlfriend'. Content, that's the word to sum up their feelings at the moment.

"Yes, Baiken is alive!" Josh exclaimed high fiving all the boys.

"Now we need Seaycee!"

Kaycee and Sean both looked up and down each other with looks of mock disgust.

"Ewww!"
