THE Friday

"Hey, Nia! Are you close?" I said while talking to her on the phone.
"Yeah. About like, 5 minutes and I'll be there," she said.
"Okay, just be quick."
"Yeah, gonna be there soon."
"Alright bye," I said as hanging up the phone.

I was waiting for Nia to get to my place so that we could get ready for the party. I sat on my bed and started doing my hair. I brushed through my hair and started braiding dutch braids it so I'd get wavy curls.
After a while, I heard the doorbell ringing. I ran quickly downstairs to open the door and there she was, Nia.

"Come on and quickly. We're going to be late," I said a little bit frustrated.
"Nah girl, you've gotta take some chill pills. The party doesn't start until 9 p.m. But sure, let's go upstairs and get glammed up even though we still have like an hour and a half left," she said casually while we were walking to my room.

That's the difference in Nia and I. I'm always on time and I don't do anything late. But Nia is kind of a live-in-the-moment type. She goes with the flow. And it would like to be like that but it's so hard. I always freak out if we leave something on the last minute.

"Okay, so let's start with your makeup. I see you've already done your hair. You're gonna open the braids later, right?" she asked.
"Yeah, of course," I answered and put on some music.

I sat down in front of my makeup desk.
"Do something natural. Nothing crazy," I said before she put moisturizer on my face. She sighed.
"Alright. Nothing crazy, just simple makeup," she said as I watched her do my makeup.

Nia loves to do crazy makeup looks like something with glitter and fake lashes and of course, a lot of highlighter. At school, she usually has natural makeup on, but there are always those days when she goes a little bit extra with her makeup. But who cares anyway.

After I had sat for a while, we were ready with my makeup and it was Nia's turn to get glammed. I was pretty shook with Nia's talent with makeup. Nia was way better at doing makeup than me so she just started doing hers all by herself.

I took some heat protection spray and started spraying it onto my hair. I took my hair straightener and started running the straightener through my braids. I seriously wasn't sure what I was doing at that point but it turned out pretty nice.

It was 8.30 p.m. and we were trying to figure out what to wear.
"Okay, so I brought two dresses with me. Here is the first one," she showed me.

It was not my type of a dress. It was a black dress that was just too tight and showing way too much leg. It was something Nia could rock.

"Oh, well, we already know that's not for me, am I right?" I said in a teasing tone.
"What is there not to like? It's cute and guys would go crazy if they saw you in this cuz girl, we both know you have a pretty good body under those sweatpants and that hoodie," she said with a curious look on her face.

She took the second dress out and it was a cute burgundy dress but not something I'd wear all night.
"I don't like that. It looks like it's not gonna fit me," I said.
"Mmm... You're right. I don't even know why I took this with me," she said and we both started laughing.

"I think that none of those would look nice on me. I'd just go for an off the shoulder shirt with some black pants," I said a little bit disappointed but at least I chose something that I was comfty in.
"Well okay, but you have to show me first so that it'll be a Nia approved outfit," she stated. We both laughed.
